Sure its an Old Institution, but why is it so popular? The odds are not good that you will be Happy because 50% of all married couples are separated or divorced! And there is at least One very good reason why you won't be happy. A marriage is based on several promises that are not possible to keep, at least for any length of time! Look at it this way. Everything in this world is constantly changing. Nothing stays the same. All things and all events change! Even the rocks along the seashore are slowly wearing away. A promise surmises, that you, and everything in your Life will remain as it is, and without change. Theres no way this can ever happen. THis is why marriages don't work! So much for your promise! A promise isn't worth the Paper its written on, and neither is a Marriage License! How long have you been separated? Would you get married again?

I've been married once, for 13 years and going strong. I think marriages don't work because people are selfish by nature and unwilling to compromise. Both parties involved in a marriage must both feel that their marriage is important, and important enough to not always have to have one's way. If one party is unfaithful, unwilling to communicate or compromise, or is abusive in any way, chances are that will be a very unhappy marriage, if not an ended one.

I feel Marriage is a sacred institution. It is a unit around which the society built. For any marriage to be successful both partners need to adjust and make compromises and look after the interests of their partners. The couple should be willing to iron out their differences through dialogue and should communicate and express their feelings candidly so there is no miscommunication or mistrust. I feel couple should have trust and understanding needed to sustain a relationship apart from love. I am single but i believe in the institution of marriage.
