I just adopted a new dog and he needed his nails trimmed. Well he does not like this and kept moving around. I ended up cutting his nail to short and it wouldn't stop bleeding. Did a little search on the internet and found out that cornstarch can stop the bleeding.

Thank you for the tip! I just adopted a new puppy myself and I've been worried about trimming his nails. I'll make sure I have some cornstarch around when I do. I also read on the Internet that you should only trim one nail a day, then they don't dislike it as much in the future.

You can also use that stuff men use when they cut their face shaving. I am not sure what it is called but you can find it at cvs or rite aid by the shaving stuff.

Soap is also good to stop the bleeding. Just keep a bar beside you while you're cutting and if it starts bleeding push the nail into the bar.
