I always try to tell the cashier to have a nice day. I do not always say thanks, but I think that telling them to have a nice day seems to work. I do always say thank you when they hand me change though. People seem to be very pleased when you say this. I figure, if I can make someone happy with a few small words, why not do it.

Saying thank you is automatic to me especially when I'm asking favor to hand over my transportation fare to the driver. Funny thing is I even say thank you though I inteded to say welcome!. lol

I think it's just a way of life, if we practice it we just say it and it's an attitude people must practice. I think almost all the fastfood chains in the Philippines, practice this now as they are trained to do so even without the real intentions.

I try to say thank you to everyone, even the cashiers who are grumpy! Sometimes I think the little thank you makes them feel appreciated and brightens their mood. It is a simple thing to remember and makes everyone happy so why not!

I did not say thank all the time but i observe my husband he is very respectful he always use magic words to let people know that he appreciate what they did. So i did that not and try not to forget to say thank you.

yes! i'm proud to say that i do say thank you, even to those who i sometimes feel do not deserve it. instead of saying "you're welcome", they either just say "hmm" or ignore you completely. but i feel that i must say thank you because i feel that good manners is really important. it's the one thing that i really prioritize when meeting other people, which is to have good manners.
