I just got this book from the library called "Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul" in that famous Chicken Soup series started by Jack Canfield and this one section was hilarious so I thought I'd share it with you. In the book it's on page 195, and here's a link to the website that posts the words: http://www.fromtheheartpostcards.com/ICQ/CatBillofRights.html I AM THE CAT AND I HAVE CERTAIN INALIENABLE RIGHTS:I have the right to walk over your face anytime I wish, day or night. I have the right to observe and comment on any and all bathroom behavior. Further, I have the right to be highly offended by any closed door. I have the right to smell your shoes to determine if you have been fraternizing or cavorting or frolicking with any highly questionable animals. I have the right to assist in any food preparation, cooking, cleaning or eating event that may occur in the home. I have the right to wake you at three in the morning if I find my food dish is not to my satisfaction. I have the right to tip over any water container I deem unsuitable for consumption. I have the right to meow at squirrels and birds that may dare to pass my windows. I have the right to inspect any grocery items that come into the home. Further, I have the right to inhabit any paper bag or cardboard box that you bring home for as long as I wish. I have the right to nap at any time and place I darn well please, without the distraction of being called or moved just because you want to sit down, wash your hands or use your computer keyboard. I have the right to assist in the changing of bed linens and to chase the phantom creatures that hide beneath the sheets. I have the right to look aloof when scolded for mistaking your toes for one of those pesky phantom creatures that hide beneath the sheets. I have the right to kill paper towel rolls that otherwise might sneak up on you. I have the right to sleep on top of any appliance that is warm. I have the right to your complete attention anytime you sit down to read or work. And, finally, I have the right to be loved, petted, pampered, and entertained, for, as you know, the best things in life ... purr. And, should you err in your ways, I will graciously forgive you. After all, you are only human, but I love you anyway. Signed, The CAT See how many you can identify with

Well there was probably something wrong with the kitty anyway--probably the "runt" of the litter...don't feel bad...it does happen lots of times...uh, suggestion though, as soon as "mom" is able get her fixed --I went through this myself...and you know the saying?? Breeds like rabbits...cause then before you know it you're going to wind up with a lot of cats--speaking from experience

My one cat Pyewacket always insists on checking out the groceries...it's like he's wondering...Okay mom, what did you get me? Did you get the roast beef I asked for or the salmon?? LOL

Heheh I think my cats wrote this...they do all of that without thinking about it. I swear they could have because that is exactly how they act. Thank you for the chuckle. Of course I was reading it around a cat at the time because he decided that the monitor was a good place to stand in front of :)

Well I think he read it and then repeated it to the rest because they have been very pushy today with wanting love and attention. Trust me I gave them lots of love and hugs. Give yours the same :)

I can relate to most of those and to the ones that other people wrote too. My cats think they have the right to do their stinkiest business in the liter box right about dinner time. And its that stink that seems to travel through the whole house. They also think they have the right to puke in my clean clothes basket. I guess if I am stupid enough to leave it where they can get into it, I must deserve it. That way I have to rewash everything and they get to lay on the dryer when I am redrying the clothes.

Well thats certainly all 3 of my cats.LOL Thats so funny one of my cats did one of them today when I change my sheets as I putting on the new one one will jump up and attack nothing under the sheet. And of course it takes me forever to put the clean sheets on. Its nerve racking but funny.

Hahahaha! Yep! I identify with every single one of those. As a matter of fact, I was attempting to type out an email this morning when my cat Fluffy decided that my chest was the perfect place for her to lay down and take a nap. I had to type the darned thing with one hand! Do you know how hard it is to press the shift key with one finger and reach for a different key with another finger when you don't have very long fingers to begin with? As if Fluffy cared about THAT! LOL

I knew this would be up your alley...no pun intended--actually I do know what it's like to type one-handed...not from one of my kitties sitting on me, but when I have a lovely carpal tunnel flare-up---what fun!!

Oh, but naturally! This is great, Pye. Of course I would love it. I'm not even sure I can think of anything to add to those rights, unless it is to shed on all the furniture and rugs and sharpen my claws on whatever I want to. And as an addition to the end I would say "And if you are a good human, I will deign to bring you thrilling presents from time to time."

Anyone who has ever owned a cat knows these by heart. A couple are missing however. I have the right to any and all aluminum foil that exists in the home, preferably crushed into a generally round form and thrown against the wall. Any resulting collateral damage is your fault. I have the right to act completely insane in the presence of catnip. I reserve the right to claim "I meant to do that" whenever I run head first in to a glass patio door and knock myself senseless.

My favorite deities are Isis, Bast, Hathor, Sekhmet...that is to invoke and use in my rituals--but I also go with Bridget, Freya, Ohdinn, Ogma, Bragi...a purist in the path like the Garderian would have a fit of course...not to mix deities..but I do tend to go more with the ancient Egyptian...perhaps a very old soul here

Actually the wife named him. Yeah, he is the black cat. He is so true to his namesake; he likes dark places and opening doors.

Oh, I should mention that when it came time to name the Golden Dawn study group I started, which ended up becoming a lodge, I chose the name Bast. So yes, you can say that I love Ancient Egypt and cats.

Lol...how true it all is, hey. I usually make my cat right into the bed when I change the sheets....she comes out when she is ready. Frequently she spends her day curled up in front of the computer monitor.....I have reinstated the carrige return typing stroke for tail removal. :}

Well I often accomodate my cats....I sometimes don't get a chance to change the sheets all day or fix up my bed period, until I'm ready to GO to bed...why?...because they sleep on it all day of course!!
