Why do you need a vacation?

Planning for a vacation is a great escape especially if you have been a lot of stress at work or at home. What is a vacation to you? Does it mean that you need to spend extra money just so you can get that peace and quiet moment away from your daily busy life? Would it be much better to just take a few days off and stay at home?

Sometimes it is much easier to take a few days off and just stay at home and do things around that area or just lounge around the house. Sometimes going on vacation can be just as stressful as staying and working. You have a good time on vacation, then you come home, have to hurry to clean up your clothes and do laundry, clean the house up and prepare to go back to work, then you need a vacation from your vacation hahaha!

A vacation is something I rarely have. With my work, they don't allow us to go on vacations very often as there are so much things to do. For me, getting away from my work and studies for even a few days, whether I spend it at home or some place else, is already considered a vacation. Just as long as I have the time to relax and unwind

Hi esjei05, I know when there is so much work to do, planning a vacation can become less important. But it is also good if you could take a few days off from your work to destress yourself. Like the old saying "All works and no play make Jack a dull boy." Thank you for your response.

Planning for a vacation does not have to be expensive, vacation for me means to get away from everyday life, which is work, your home and faces you see everyday. It's not like I don't like my job my home or the people I interact with everyday it's just that every once in awhile. I need to break and get away. This year I'm planning on a vacation which is pretty cheap, I'm going camping with my girlfriend, we have everything we need as in camping gear. Of course, a nice cruise, luxury hotels and stuff like that, would be great but if money is an issue. You have to opt for the cheaper. I will just have to start saving up if I really want an expensive vacation. But will that bring me happiness? I think camping under the stars, sitting by the fire with the person I love is the best vacation in the world.

my idea of a vacation is just staying at thome or going to tagaytay with my family. Yes its much convenient if i budget the expenses before we go to a vacation.if its a spur of the moment, unplanned getaway/vacation. i usually just go soemwhere where my budget takes me and where i feel most relaxed.

Having a vacation in a different place is much better than staying at home because you could easily forget your problems and meet new friends along the way.

We need vacation to keep ourselves relaxed. While going to school, college or office, we need to be on time and there may be many problems that has to be faced. There is a lot of tension, physically and mentally. Most of them dont find time to spend with their family. In vacation, they can be with their family and take care of them.

Vacation to me would mean travelling and doing lots of fun activities and sightseeing in a new place/country or even city with my family. I don't think there will be any time for me to rest if I was on vacation as I would be too excited enjoying whats around me. If I just wanted to take a small break from work then i would just stay home for a few days and relax and not do anything strenuous :)

Hi maddysmommy, I agree with you. Sometimes a vacation can mean tiredness because we go to a new place and do a lot of shopping or sightseeing. But it is good to be able to do that. Just sightseeing also can destress us. Thanks for your response.

Usually here in Kerala, India, people seldom take a vacation and go to places. However now things are changing. Earlier the main destination for people to visit was pilgrim centers. But now they go to other places of tourist interests such as big cities, hill stations amd even some foreign countries like yours. As to me, I frequently visit Bangalore where my two daughters stay, and consder the visits as vacation. However I and my wife are planning to visit the holy land Jerusalem next year.

Taking a vacation is to break the monotonous of our daily routine. It recharge our mind, energy and spirit to give a newer dimension in our existence in this planet. We have to venture out of our cocoon to taste a different environment for our self satisfaction.

I budget for our vacations. Each year I like to take my kids to the beach. It is so relaxing and just a great bonding time. I don't ever go over what I have budgeted for the trip, so I feel that I am not spending extra money. I also like to take a vacation from work and stay home. This type of vacation usually isn't as relaxing as I still have the cooking and cleaning.

Hi sunshine4, I think women do not have 100% relaxation because they still need to attend to their family needs especially if they have small ones with them. Thanks for your response.

It helps me to get away. I don't have to spend alot or have a lot of luxury (although it is nice), I just need to be away from my things, phone, house, everything that is a responsibility to me.

As for me vacation is spending quality time with family, not thinking of jobs at work. Freeing up my mind with stress. It does not necessarily spend extra money, i might stay at home play with my son, or visit a friend nearby, have a little barbecue party or share food something to friends. But if the vacation is long enough, i plan it with exciting activities with family, say go on swimming or having a tour in beautiful places my family never been, but it depends on the budget.

As for me, I prefer to stay at home with my family. But once a while, I do feel that I need a break and a short vacation for a day or two will be good. As for a vacation spot, it depends on my budget.

a vacation for me is a great break from my day to day schedules. it's one way for me to give myself sometime away from housechores. it's also a way to get in touch with my inner self. spend time with friends. spend time with the family. and enjoy myself... enjoy my vacation. a vacation does not necessarily need to be expensive. when i don't have any money to spend, i just go to a friend's place and stay there a night. there are times when i just stay at home when i don't do anything much at all. but at times, i love to go to beaches and far away places only if i have enough money to spend and pamper myself. it's also good sometimes and i feel like i deserve it, too. happy myLotting ellie!

well, i usually need vacation to get away from everyday's hectic life and relax myself for sometime... but since i don't have much money, i usually just stay at home and do the things that i enjoy or go window shopping... i really have to be very careful with my spending as i don't want to end up in a situation where i am penniless... :-)

Hello lingli_78, it is hard to plan a good vacation away from our routine life when budget is tight. I think window shopping is one way to release stress. Thanks for your response.

A holiday cottage - A holiday cottage like this could be just as relaxing as staying at home and doing nothing but relaxing :)
I have to admit that a vacation (or holiday as we refer to it here in the UK) for me is a time to relax. This can mean going away for a few days in the UK, going right out of the country for a few weeks in December, usually to India as we have a 2nd home there or just taking time off and relaxing at home. I don’t need to spend £100s or even £1000s to have a good holiday. If I wasn’t going away for 3 weeks later this year to India I would just be having a few long weekends here and there in the UK with my hubby, saying at a nice quiet bed and breakfast in a seaside resort so we could do lots of lazing around. I’m not into adventure holidays where you spend you whole time away climbing mountains or trekking up and down hills, as I just not cut out for that kind of holiday and would need a further holiday to recover from all of that exercise when I came back home before going back to work. So as they say, a change is as good as a rest, but only in some instances. Time off relaxing at home is just as good a break for me as going away from home for a vacation:)

Hello, ellie,we all need a break in our life,no one can work for 365 days in a row.Luckily i have to work for 5 days in one week,i still get 2 days off,i can either take a rest at home or go out and relax,or even it is a kind of relaxation to reply in mylot. Our life may be stressful and there may be somethings more important than work,at some moments,we should stop and take a break to enjoy our life for some time.

If money is our constraint then it is better just to take a few days off to stay at home or to visit some nice places nearby that do not require us to come out with lots of money. There is no point to spend lots of money that we do not have for the sake of vacation with the intention to release stress. We might end up with more stress to pay back the money that we used for the vacation.

Hi laiyongjun, I am glad you like this discussion. I am sure you can always find other topic related to a vacation. Wow, you have such a big plan for vacations. I think you really have to work hard to earn enough money to fulfill your vacation dream. As for me, I am not that eager about vacation. I dont like the idea of packing and unpacking. Anyway, my idea of a vacation is to go to a resort hotel, walking along the beautiful beach and probably stay a night or two. Thanks for your response.
