Do you do good deeds anonymously?

We have a policy in our family to do things for people, just to be kind or to make them feel better, and we always try to keep it anonymous (so there's no embarassment or feelings that people owe us). Does anyone else do this? I won't claim charitable donations on my income tax and we will not write the church a cheque, so they never know who we are (they likely think we're cheap..hahaha). It started because a few years ago we paid for a stranger to get a hotel room, because he said they filled out his MO wrong and it was very cold and dark out. He seemed really nice and we believed him when he said he give us back the money in the morning, he TOTALLY ripped us off. LOL. So, we dicided then and there to just give $100 or the equivalent time anonymously, with no expectations.

yes, I have at my church as a child we would spend the whole day doing random acts of kindness. I have carried that with me as the feeling of doing it was great. Sometimes when there is a toll on the road I will pay for the car behind me. Or pay in a drive thru for the people behind me or something like that. I have also picked a bank account number out of the sky and put some extra money in it at my bank. I just love the feeling, so I guess it isnt completely selfless. But it is nice to be able to do such things. =)

I used to try to post 5 things a day I had to be thankful for (not general things, little things, like my son's smile at seeing a frog, the fact my cat didn't miss the litter box). We should start an anonymous deeds thread and make it a point to do one small thing, each day, even if it's post a link to help someone on the net.

So what's the best way to do this? Just start a discussion? Or are there other options? I'm not too familiar with this place, yet.

I consider myself blessed. I've received help from so many different people. Family, friends, and strangers have all come to my rescue from time to time. So I don't hesitate when an opporitunity comes to help someone else.

That's a great way of looking at it. Sort of a "pass it on" philosophy. Too bad everyone didn't do it.

Yes I tried to do good things anonymously especially when I was in elementary. I always donate clothes, shoes, and food to the orphanage. I really feel great everytime I donate something to the orphanage. I don't really bring it there by hand because I was just a kid that time but I give it to one of the parents in school to hand it to the other kids in the orphanage. I don't even know that they would recognize it until our graduation day in grade school. I was awarded a special award because of what I have shown the kids from the orphanage. I also remember that the good lady parent was crying because it's like I have touched her heart for some reasons because she also love the orphanage. I love the feeling of helping people and I hope to do it again soon. It really makes my heat warm and light.

It does, doesn't it? Sometimes I think I'm being selfish because it makes me FEEL so good. LOL. I really believe in Karma and a few times I've been really down and out in my life or had a lot of troubles.
