As an animal lover, I've always hated the concept of bull riding and rodeos. Some people say it's harmless to the bulls but I think it's pretty obvious that they do not enjoy it. I love watching the rider get thrown off and to be honest I always hope the bull gets them and I get a bit sad when the rider escapes and jumps over the fence unharmed. Anyway, I researched bull riding a bit and found a couple of sites that cleared up a few myths I heard about it, such as 'the bull bucks naturally'. Yeah right, on these sites there are photos of the cowboys putting their little electric shockers in their pants, ready to zap the naturally dosile bulls. www.anti-rodeo.org/english.htm also: www.sharkonline.org/rodeocrueltybullriding.mv also: http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=271376 I would like to know, what are your opinions on bull riding?

It's cruel and should be outlawed. The things they do to these creatures is beyond my understanding. People like these have a mind set in a way of thinking that because they're big mean animals that they can handle a little discomfort. I'd like to see what's being done to these animals done to these jerks and then get their answer. I bet it would be completely different.

I hate bull riding. I just can't see any benefits whatsoever. It just gives the riders a macho imagine & probably something else too! The bulls must hate it, to be aggravated enough to buck & fight & try to escape. It is quite unnecassry cruelty.

I don't think I've ever considered bull riding as cruel.. I guess I've only shown concern for the more usual or popular "sports" involving animals like hunting or cockfighting. But bull riding.. I've never thought about it. I will check out those links you provided and go from there!=) Thanks for eye-opener!

I have one question for you why would the rider want to shock the bull? They want to stay on it for 8 seconds not get bucked off right away and it is a natural for a bull wanting to get a 180 pound man off its back. If I jumped on your back would you try to get me off? OBVIOUSLY

why would the bull riders want to shock the bull they have to stay on for 8 seconds and it is natural for them to buck if a 180 pound man that you didn't know was on your back you'd do the same thing

I don't think normally bull riding is cruel. I'm way more concerned about bull fighting.

If we are talkling about bull riding, it is not cruel in my mind, but I totally agree bull fight are a cruel thing, it should be banned all the time.

I think bull riding, and bronc riding is cruel. The rider gets more points if they 'spur' the animal. They have a 'buck strap' tightened and a bell under the belly which makes them buck. I hadn't heard of or seen the shocking you speak of.
