What do you think about the UK government stance on introducing toll charges to

The latest stick the government are going to hit us with is toll charges to go into city centres... we have already had one in London for a couple of years now.. Now the government wants to include other major cities.Charges may be as much as £5 a day ..plus lesser charges for other things they have in m ind to do with car parking etc....does this government sit in Parliament every day just dreaming up new ways to tax the public.. will it be worth living here at all in the near future...

you said it right there yourself... tony's cronies just want new ways to tax everyone. congestion charges only seem like a good idea in theory, in practice they just tax the poor further and help keep them poor. those in government don't care about that though, they have more than enough money to pay the charges 10 times over without it affecting their day to day living, so they don't care how it affects the average joe. it wouldn't even be so bad if they actally spent the revenue on making sure that public transport was up to scratch and make sure that it was accessable to all, but no, we all know where that money is going... lining their pockets further!

Yeah... the point you make about the revenue is spot on... a guy recently wrote a letter to the press where he said he gave up his car for a month.. to get healthier and to help the environment... he gave up and went back to the luxury of his car becasue of the delays and poor timetabling, the unhygenic aromas of other passengers and his involuntary intake of narcotic substances.. oh yes he caught flu too and had to take time off work....

Well I am in Sheffield and today I went shopping - had a lot of stuff so decided to get a taxi home. We sat in the taxi barely moving for almost an hour. Hell I could have walked it home in less time than that. With cars, buses, trams and taxis - Sheffield is a real zoo and something needs to be done to change things. Like you though I think all that this government does is sit in Parliament and decide how to rip the working man off. We suffer while they ride in their paid for Jags etc.

I thought Winnipeg, Canada was the only place where they thought the citizens were a cash cow. I also remember when they started to pay for parking in Stanley Park in Vancouver, B.C. I think these governments have a special branch, known as the "Ministry to Soak the Public."
