Do you drive more cautiously when you buy a new car?

When you buy a brand new car, are you cautious when you first start driving around? Do you take it easy while you learn the controls and features of your new car or do you drive the way you normally do? I may be buying a new car soon and will be cautious when I pull out of the lot with it so I can get used to the controls. I have an older car right now and the features of the newer cars will take me some time to get used to. LOL

My mom bought a new car a few years ago. I was the first one who got to drive it..... I was cautious, but I did drive it. It was fun to drive too, I was mostly interested with the gas, and brake pedal and the steering wheel. the mirrors too. I stepped on it, you have to test it out before buying it, haha. It had plenty of get up and go, and still does. She doesn't drive on the e way, so she lets me. I make sure I blow out the carbon build up every now and then. I have never bought a new car, good luck and have fun.

i am glad that you were cautious when driving your mom's new car a few years ago. Was she too nervous to drive it? Even if testing it before buying it, there will still be a difference I am sure. I am sure the newer car will pick up speed faster and have different options.

No she wasn't nervous. She always had the people take her out in the car, she wouldn't drive it until she bought it. I told her we have to test it out. It had 2 miles on it when I drove it. She bought it on my birthday. I said it was my birthday present, I just had to leave it at her house.

I'll compare it to my new laptop. Yes, I take much better care of it compared to my desktop pc and I would with a new car. (If I owned one) Which I don't.. (yet)... ~Joey

Hopefully you will own a new car in the near future. I will definitely be taking care of my new car better than my current car. I am hoping to get a laptop computer in the near future as well and will take better care of that than my desktop too. LOL

I definitely drive more careful if it's no my own car. I just hate spending money for something that's not mine(in case of accidents). If it's mine, then, whatever happens with it is up to me.

I think I will drive more cautiously when I buy a new car. Definitely don't want to get any scratch anywhere around my new car. I'll probably will be more grumpy when I take somebody else to try my new car....with don't touch this, don't do that, becarefull, gently, watch out...etc.... And I'll take it easy maybe after couple of months....hehehe. Hummm....that's why I don't buy any new car, yet.

I've never had a brand new car, but whenever I've gotten a 'new' used car I tend to drive a little more cautiously until I'm used to the controls and such, though this doesn't usually take long. I couldn't imagine just driving a vehicle I'm unfamiliar with as I normally would as it wouldn't feel right, until I was familiar with the car.

I did when I got my car. It was not brand new but it was new enough for me. For some reasons, I still do drive carefully today and it has been three years since I've gotten it.

Congrats on making the decision to get a new car soon. I know you have been pondering it for a bit now and at least you can say it is not an impulse buy. :) I don't think I drive more cautiously. I am a pretty cautious driver. But it does take me some time to get adjusted to the way the new car drives. So, maybe in that manner, I am a more cautious driver until I am used to how it handles. Good luck car shopping! It can be a nightmare out there!

yes I always drive more carefully First I need to "learn" the car and second I always have that fear that since it's brand new, I m going to have an accident! ... so I really am careful Well I am a cautious peron anyway but when it's new it's even worse, but the more time goes by the more at ease I feel and then I completly forget about it and just drive .... lol

When I got my Jeep I was careful, just because it is so different than driving a regular car and it takes some getting used to. Then when I went back to driving a car, I had to get used to it all over again. Now I am back to a Jeep and I feel at home.
