Do you deliberately get away from your computer for a day or two?

I am really addicted to my computer and I have so many projects going on in the internet that I find myself sitting in front of it everyday most of the time. Sometimes I think it's way too much and it's like I am literally spending my life in front of a machine. I do try to get away from it from time to time, like once a week or two, I would spare a day not getting online nor switching it on, so I could concentrate doing other activities. What about you?

Hello, wondericequeen, what kind of projects are you up to?? You have no choice but sitting in front of the computer if you need to finish those projects before the deadline. When i stay at home,i will switch on my computer automatically, unless i am not staying at home one day,i will never get away from my computer on purpose for some time.I think we cannot live without the computer or the internet, few weeks ago, when i could not access to the internet,i even went to my friend's house for the internet, you can see how important internet it is to me.:P

I am just working on my website and blogs and there is really no deadline and that's why I would sit here forever and do my stuff. I was like you before, I just had to have my computer and internet around me and it's like a very important part of my life. But then I started working on my stuff online forever, I feel like actually I am aging in front of my computer *laughs*. I think it's good for me to get away from it once in awhile and relax my brain.

But it will be hard for you to stay away from the computer unless you do not stay at home, aren;t you? When you get nothing to do at home, most probably, you will switch on the computer and spend a couples of hours on it.

Yes that would be much harder if I stay at home. But I did manage to get away from it twice last month (well, 2 days out of the 30 days *laughs*). That was because I was addicted to a book I was reading, if not, I think it wouldn't be that easy for me. *laughs*

i always have schedules for everything. i have lots of chores to do at home and other things to attend to. and i love myLotting and i am addicted to it and other things i do in the internet. but we just need to have self discipline. i log in to myLot everyday of my life. i feel my day's not enough if i am not able to log in. but i do give a break from myLot, too. i take vacations and have fun with my family. it's good to be here and it's good to pamper ourselves, too... anne

i hope it will work for you. just discipline yourself. it's difficult at first but if you work hard on it, you can do it. plus, try to go to the mall on weekends or meet friends. atleast forget myLot for some hours. heheh..

Anne, that's right, I like to log in here and see what's up. But I usually can't stop myself once I start chatting here. *laughs* I am totally out of self-discipline once I start doing something. I am trying a new routine. During weekends, I would get on mylot and the internet in the morning and in the afternoon I would do something else, then in the evening it's flexible to get on or not. Hope this works.

*laughs* Right, my emails piled up too when I was away with it. It's very tempting to switch it on and really do something with it. But sometimes, I do prefer to rest my eyes and my mind *smiles*.

Oh I love my computer. I am on it everyday. I work from home, so I don't get a chance to interact with other adults very much during the week. So the computer is my link to the outside world sometimes. I have alot of online friends that I like to chat with. There have been a few times I've had to go without a computer for a couple days. Usually the first day is the hardest. After the first day, it doesn't bother me as much. But still, I would rather have my computer time.

*smiles* You work from home! How's your experience with it? I always admire people working from work and don't have to deal with the stupid politics at work. I think I would have a longer life if I work at home too *laughs*.

Oh my computer was down for a week in May. It was sad because I didn't have a choice but to sit around here reading my magazines or things like that and I had no choice but to watch TV. How sad is that? I feel better if I could have a choice getting on my computer or not. So I totally understand how you felt when you lost your internet for 10 days.

Being on the internet is a daily affair for me. I see to it however, that each day I am on my computer,I have to give several hours for other chores that I have to do besides facing my monitor and banging the keyboard. Scheduling your day should always be the uppermost consideration, instead of hanging all day on the net

But it's hard, once I start sitting here, time really does fly. Maybe I should really have a better time management. I am starting to schedule the time for using my computer only in the mornings during weekend and in the afternoon I would do something else (have to read my books!). Hopefully I could carry it out *laughs*.

I'm sure that it would do me some good to have a day away from the computer. But I work from home so that's impossible for me to do. Unless I don't mind taking a cut out of my paycheck. Even I didn't work at home I probably would refused to do it lol. I'm spoiled when it comes to the Internet.

*laughs* That's perfectly understandable when you're working from home. Of course switching it off means lower payout and who would want that? I could imagine myself getting obsessed with my computer if I work at home full-time!

Just to get away from my computer I take a vacation and visit a new place to see.Otherwise it is impossible to remain away from the computer which has become life of those who are addicted to it like me and you.At home or at my workplace computer is the lifeline and nothing can be done without it.But at workplace to take a break from computer I go to my lab conduct some experiment which keep me away from my computer for hardly 2-3 hrs otherwise always in front of it.

I have never done that before, but I've thought about it sometimes. I probably should try it cause I spend so much time in front of the computer! I think it could be good to get away from it for a day or two every now and then.

It doesn't have to be much. Just maybe once per every two weeks. At first I find it hard too and I always wanted to log in but I know myself perfectly well that once I have turned it on, I would stay at least for more than a couple hours. Now I am getting away from it from time to time and I actually feel good, it's like I can't have it for awhile and that excitement builds up when I am able to use it again. *Laughs* I like torturing myself!

yup, definitely. i usually stay away from the computer on weekends. i go out, go to the mall, watch movie or simply watch tv at home. i try not to go near the computer as much as possible. for me, as long as i am busy with something, i can stay away from the computer but if i feel idle, surely i'm tempted to visit mylot :)

Oh me too! The first thing I did this morning after brushing my teeth was logging into mylot *laughs*. See how addicted I am! Luckily I would go out in the afternoon and be away from my baby (computer) for awhile. But I guess I would get back on when I get home! *laughs*

I am on the computer Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. That is due to the fact that I work nights and I need something to stay awake. I find using the computer helps keep me allert. I don't get on on Tues, Wed, or Thurs. I feel a break from the computer is good and needed. I am happy with this arrangement I made for myself.

scenery - What a lovely scenery!!!!!
For me its much of passing the time than doing any productive work as in your case. I do many other things other than sitting infront of pc. I am still a student and so during vacations I spend my time on pc and playing badminton. I never deliberately get up and go away from pc but only for lunch or dinner or some important things which need my attention. This is only during vacations. Once the college starts I get to my usual routine but surely do spend some time on pc.

Good luck on your job hunting then! I am sure I will be around here all the time when I have my career break later the year. It would be boring sitting around and not do something.
