bitten by my own dog...

yeah, my lovely Lurcher, who I adore, and adores me, bit me on the face once. right on the base of my nose, and I needed 13 stitches and minor cosmetic surgery. he didn't mean it. he's a jumpy sleeper, and I sat down hard next to him and he jumped up snapping. one of the snaps got me on the face. he was a very sorry dog, and I forgave him. he did get a slap, but we're still best of friends. we had a lovely day out together today.

Im sure if I have animal empathy thats why I havent had the experience of being bitten by any animal in my life. Insects yes but not dogs or cats. One thing I know about owner bitting dogs is that they are dominant dogs in the house. One way to resolve this is to show them that you are the Alpha. Eat infront of them and dont give them any, try to put them down on their belly, this means in dog laguage that they are subbordinates in the pack. Sometimes discipline them by raising your voice just to startle them. Now never waver from my advice especially the food thing because the moment you waver the dog will become dominant again and you run the risk of being bit another time. Animals have body language that is instinctively wired in their minds so if you can get those cues and learn them you can become a beast master as it were haha

soooooooo sad dude... got bitten by ur own dog...... I never got bitten bt I was damn scared I wud be... Ma friend has a pet dog n ma cousin n I went to his house... He did dome thing stupid n the dog came charging towards us... We were damn scared n ran out of the house...

I don't get why you are getting anti-rabies shots. Usually the animal is quarantined and watched for at least 14 days sometimes longer. If it was your dog, what was his shot record. Usually the rabies shot is good for 3 years even though it is required that the dog have a shot every year. Where was the bite at? Maybe that has something to do with it? Most of the time you get antibiotics and tetnus shots. Rabies shots for dogs keep the animal from passing the rabies virus but do not keep it from getting the virus. Getting biten by an animal is very scary especially if it is your own. You have loved and cared for this animal even if the bite was an accident.
