How Do You Kill Yours?

With the onset of Summer around the corner it is also the onset of those irritating bugs. I like the door open because of the breeze but it also attracts damn flies and wasps! One of my pet hates is the continual droning of a fly buzzing around, so I have a handy can of Raid Protector fly and wasp spray which kills the bugs dead, although they do hover around making horrid noises before finally dying! What do you do, do you spray a couple of times in the room or do you aim that spray like a gun and machine gun the bleeders to make sure they get a lethal dose ten times over?Or do you prefer to swat them with whatever is nearest and handiest? There's nothing more satisfying that getting the spray and squeezing it and hitting the bug SQUARE ON! Gotcha you fooker! So how do you kill yours?

Pest control - Pest control
Wolfie .. don't you dare use that awful Raid stuff when the cats are nearby .. it's REALLY bad for them .. and bad for you too come to think of it .. The RAID droplets are too large to mist properly and so the majority of droplets fall to the carpet or seating areas .. cats lay on the carpet and seats and then wash themselves ingesting the Pyrethroid pesticide chemicals contained in RAID .. Vets advise never to spray while pets are in the house and allow at least 30 minutes before allowing pets back into sprayed areas .. if you have any respiratory problems then stay out of the area yourself for 30 minutes ... You can check what chemicals your household cleaners etc contain here .. it's a very sobering list ... http://www.wpro.who.int/hse/pages/householdlist.html Read further about pyrethroids here .. http://www.idph.state.il.us/envhealth/factsheets/pyrethroid.htm Personally I wouldn't use RAID ever .. I have electronic pest control gadgets .. they work really well and even with doors and windows open I hardly ever get flies coming in .. and if they do they don't stay long .. In the long run the pest crontrol gadgets work out cheaper than buying loads of fly spray .. and benefit your house too as they also will get rid of the majority of insects from your house and houses fabrication ..

OK - don't laugh - I don't - ever! I am incapable of killing anything - even a bug or an ant. Guess that's why I'm vegetarian! I tend to think they have their own life span and their own purpose, and as much right to do their own thing on earth as I do! Guess now you think I'm totally crazy don't you?! LOL!

Well I have "open house" to virtually everything else in the "animal" kingdom - so why not flies as well? And Lily says hello:-))

well i think everyone hates flies and bugs. these creepy things/bugs/flies are annoying and they are always disrputing a pleasant time in the outdoors, even indoors. well we usually have a long sticky tape dangling in between the lights or wherever we can place them. the flies are too dumb and are quite attracted to it so they catch themselves in a sticky situation where they properly die. sometimes me and my brothers would get so annoyed that we would get a net-something and just swat the flies with it. well thats all about how we kill our flies/bugs/creepy annoying things.

I don't like killing things for the sake of it, however flies spread illness and disease, because everything they land on they transfer a form of saliva onto, just imagine a common housefly that drank the sweat of an animal coming and landing on your food.. yuck. Since they have zillions of eyes and are usually too quick, I think the fly spray is pretty effective. One thing I really can't stand though are wasps. They are aggressive and are able to use their sting at will. I really have no qualms about splattering them. I've read in the paper today we might be overrun with them this summer and hornets too.. again horrible insects I hate their buzzing sound, hate their colour, and hate theyir aggression. Global warming is making their life cycle too comfortable!

Thanks my friend, I am highly allergic to wasps and one sting could actually kill me, I have to carry an epipen around with me especially at this time of the year, so they are my number one hate on my hit list!

Summer is almost over here and the weather is more bearable now. I always left my door open but have a screen door attached to avoid bugs and mosquitoes buzzing around my house. I was born with a lot of allergies and those creatures are a source of allergens that I should avoid. I don't use any spray either because of the chemicals ingredient which is not good for my rhinitis. I will light one good smelling incense stick instead which is effective in killing those mosquitoes. The incense stick works by making the mosquitoes dizzy and kill them with the smell.

Actually, I use a fly swatter. ha ha There is nothing like hitting that little bugger when it has already annoyed me for the past 20 minutes! And if you wait until night time, they seem to fall asleep on the wall and you can get many more of them. Mosquitoes seem to me more of a problem here right now though. They bite and it swells up as big as a wasp sting! Fly sawtters...on the grocery list to is to pick up more fly swatters!!! ha ha

my friend , we have chiggers here and they hurt....those little bugs are everywhere and they get on your legs and they sting...almost as bad as fireants...so now we have to put on skin so soft oil or some repellent to walk the dogs because you will look like you have the chicken pox after they dine on you....

Yesterday, on Saturday 6-9-2007, while I was outside waiting for the technician to fix the mini-blackout of our house, there was a fly that was interrupting my reading of "The Think and Grow Rich Action Pack". Of course, I had my bottled water and fan since it's as hot as hell inside and outside. That stupid insect couldn't stop buzzing around me, so I swatted it really fast with the same book I was reading. I had to wipe the bug nastiness off my book, but that'll teach other flies a lesson.

Well.. Normally I leave them unless I can stamp on them and then I go into a fury! Moving along and just jumping on them like a madman. I used to do the same thing as a kid. ~Joey

we hang wasp traps in the trees in the orchard these look like the top of a glass bottle with a hole in the bottom that has a lip on it. wasps fly up into it and can't fly out because of the lip. inside the lip is a bit of honey water or sugar water to attract them. it catches wasps but not bees, because bees can't fly straight up.

Right on my wolf friend. I hate those bugs too. I try to make them go away, failing which I will destroy them with a piece of tissue or something (so that I won't need to dirty my hand lol). I make sure my windows are closed by 7pm because from experience, any later, and bugs will quite definitely enter.

I use fly strips that you hang from the ceiling.I hang them at night and take them down in the AM. I hate the sprays..They are really bad for you to inhale. I have fly traps that I hang outside near the horses to get rid of the pests out there. Hugs
