Where do you look when you lose inspiration for your crafts?

I haven't been doing much crafting lately, partly because I've been busy, and partly because I just don't have many good ideas right now. I crochet, mainly, and most of what I make is great for winter wear, but not so good in the summer. Even in Seattle, where it's been cool all week, it's too warm to think about winter hats. So when you run out of ideas or lose inspiration for your crafts, where do you look to find new ideas?

This happens to me almost every summer! I knit mostly for my crafting and while I have tons of ideas in the winter, the summer I get major crafting block! This can be pretty bad because I sell my crafts for some extra income (www.effulgentcrafts.etsy.com). So to try to combat this I go to yarn stores to temp myself with beautiful yarns...in the summer I look more at cottons. It's acutally not horrible to knit with cotton in the summer. You can make items like bath mits, or dish cloths, and these can make great holiday gifts. I also look through knitting books or sites on the internet to try to get that zest for knitting back. This might sound werid, but there ate so many great knitted itmes in the Harry Potter movies, that sometimes I watch one of those to to try inspire me.

Beautiful stuff in your Etsy store! :) (I'm at http://scarywhitegirl.etsy.com) I actually LIKE making hats even in the summer, it's just that no one wants to buy them in the summer. :)

I love the yarn hair falls! What a cool shop! I try to to tell myself I am gearing up for the winter rush :-) I think we need to target the Austraila/New Zealand crowd...it's winter there :-)

I don't crochet, I sew, so there are always patterns and books full of stuff to get ideas. Sometimes things just come up from daily life. Then sometimes in the summer I will see something at a craft fair (I go to lots) and it will inspire me to do something different with that idea, or adapt it to my style. I like very modern things, and lots of craft fairs around me are filled with "country style" crafts...not my cup of tea. The problem with me is I have more ideas than time or energy to do them. Good luck with your crafts.

I usually visit some of the yarn site like Lion Brand. They always have new patterns. The library is also a good place to get ideas.

I put together native American crafts and when it has been a few days since I worked on any thing I will sit down in my room and "things" will come to me. I have a large colsecion of beads, feathers, and other items that I can use in my crafts. It almost never fails that I will thinkd of something to put together.
