Is anyone familiar with a "Twin Tub Laundry Machine" it is a small portable washing machine that has a separate spinner and they say that because the spinner is separate it spins at such a high speed that the clothes come out almost dried. I herd this machine was first made in the 1950's and it is a popular model in England. Is this true?

I hadn't heard of the machine, but will be watching this topic closely. I'm looking for a washing machine for my daughter. Our weather is so nice that with a machine like the one you mentioned she wouldn't need a dryer. That would certainly save me some money, as she could hang all her clothes and they would dry quickly.

A friend of mine said she is going to buy this one because of the separate spinner and she is in a small apartment. The consumer reviews said it is better than the full automatic portable machines. "Target" sells it for $299.99 let me what you think... http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-11/qid=1181414939/ref=sr_1_11/602-9135904-5756643?ie=UTF8&asin=B000N29VGY

It does look like a great option. Did you see the reviews on the dishwasher for the same brand? I was impressed, as hadn't heard of this brand before now. I will go ask my friend list and see what they think of the brand. Thanks for your help.

This brand sells 2 models: a portable fully automatic washer and the twin tub that has the separate spinner, the twin tub they say is like having a mini spinner/drier combo benefit and they are both the same price. Any additional info you get please send me, I would appreciate it because I am also interested in getting this one. Thank You.

twin tub laundry washing machine is very popular here in our country howard96h. it has two tubs one for washing the clothes and one for squeezing in or drying it. well i dont want to call it drying it or a dryer because the clothes are not dry yet its just not dripping when you pull it out from the dryer. i have one right now at our house but the problem with this washing machine it eats most of the space in the house. i wish i can have those fully automatic but they are all so expensive.

They say because the spinner is separate on the twin tub the clothes come out almost dried being good for a small apartment where you can only have a washer and not a dryer. The unit in the picture is a small portable one, it is not one of those full size machines. Is yours a portable or a full size machine?

I remember my mom had one of these washing machines when we were kids... yes the spinning cycle on that thing was just the greatest... clothes dried in no time at all. Now I could not imagine standing over a machine like that doing washing - it would take me all day to get my washing done... LOL how the technology has changed and how we do not have so much time like our moms used to have.

Hi howard96h. I have a twin tub and yes it does spin very well. The only thing is that you have to get the clothes in the spinner to be well ballanced, otherwise you might damage the drum in the long run. But if you don't have loads and loads of washing at once, it's an economical buy, as you can decide on the waterlevel, how long to spin, etc. Ronelle Fulton, South Africa

Thank you Ronelle, I think the twin tub would be good in these apartments where you can't have a dryer. Yes, it would be for 2 adults only. Is yours a portable unit? Welcome to mylot, you've found a really nice forum here, I know you will like it...Howard

Thanks for the nice welcome, Howard. I'm shure I'll enjoy it here. I don't think my twin tub is a portable, but it's small enough to be and quite old, hehehe...Ronelle

I am familiar with this twin tub laundry machine. I had one before and my mom still using it in her house. It takes longer to wash clothes and need to do step by step to clean your clothes. I normally do wash and spin twice just to make sure that the clothes are completely clean. After that, I still hang my clothes outside to dry them completely.

I understand, the only reason why I am interested in the twin tub is because the seperate spinner spins it better (to almost dry) than the fully automatic models. I can sneak in and hide a small portable unit, no dryer is allowed and there is not way to hang the clothes outside (I wish I could) I live in a tiny apartment in NYC so I use a foldable stand up clothes rack until they are 100% dried. No dishwasher, no pets, the landlord is a creep, he won't even allow a fish tank! Hate this place, gotta move!

Hello Howard. I can't believe I've never heard of the "Twin Tub Laundry Machine." The concept makes perfect sense and the machine looks pretty cool. I'm sure it is very convienant for people who live in smaller dwellings. Lloyd

Yes Lloyd, for a small place or a couple of people. I don't think it would work well for a large family or a bunch of kids clothes. The nice thing about it is that since the spinner is seperate it spins at such a high speed that the clothes come out almost dry. Yes, a nice item for a small apartment like you said where you can't have a drier or don't wnat to go to the laundromat. Thanks.

I have not heard of it, but for a small apartment or flat it would make sake. I do not know whether it is available over here or not though. I suppose if you had regular clothes it would be okay, but I cannot imagine watching delicates in it. It would be rather limited in what it could handle, wouldn't it?

Yes for a small apartment where you can't have a dryer I think it's good assuming of course that you don't have a lot of people to wash clothes for.

We had one in our student house at university - it was very old and to be honest it was almost time to say goodbye to it because it leaked water all over our bathroom floor. When you finished it looked like you had been doing the washing on the floor itself! The worst part was that the spinner was so small that you could only fit one pair of jeans in it at one time so you had to spin the clothes in batches and it took all day to do the laundry. After a few months we took the clothes to the laundry and did them all in one machine! Happy days!

They must have modified it since because when I looked into the spinner it was very deep holding a good number of items. True what you say about doing the clothes in batches but for a single person I think it might work out. Thanks.

This is cool. I wash my clothes in my machine but have to put them on dryer racks for a day for them to dry. This machine would be very good for me, I would not have to have my dryer racks up any longer than overnight! Thanks for the info howard96h, I am going to look for one, it is smaller than my machine so it will free up space in my apartment...Take care and thanks again...

Yes tsgirl, the reviews say since it has a separate spinner the speed is so fast that they are almost dried. You have to remember it is not the fully automatic model though. Thanks.
