Want to take part in an experiment? Here is a list of 30 stock symbols. They all have gone DOWN recently, but according to a program I recently wrote, they might go back up soon. This list is posted as of the close on June 08,2007. Let's see if any of these stocks go UP in the next week or two. MUJ NMO NXP NPT HE MUA NZH IEF BNJ BDN BPK HPI NUV NZF PFO SWX TLT EAS JPS NNP OGE MJI NXK VBF NZR TSBK NXJ LQD DSM PNW Do you think any of the stocks on this list might go UP? Which ones? Do you have any stocks you think might go UP soon? DISCLAIMER: Do not BUY any of these stocks. The program that picked them out is experimental only and not proven to the point that anyone should BUY these stocks based on the selection by the program. This is not a recomendation to BUY these stocks. It is only an experiment in stock picking.

Interesting. And this was 7 months ago. I wonder... I don't have the info on hand but did a majority of these stocks rebound, stay the same or keep going down? Oh and good luck with the program and further trading. I feel 08 is going to be an quite a year to watch.

That program only looks for short term bottoms. That is, stocks going up for the short term. If any of them are up or down now it would be unrelated to anything that program projected. I have been working on that program and will post results from it in the future. I have the results in an earlier response above. The results were only so-so.

OMG! I bought *all* of these before I finished reading your post! Do you have a program that tells you when to sell them? JK. I'll be interested in seeing how the program works. Hobby of yours?

Okay, it has been one week since I posted the 30 stocks. Here's the result so far. Mostly, as a group, these stocks went down another 1 to 3 days then started back up. Meaning, my program picked the "bottom" for these stocks just a little early. This is not a bad result as it gives you a chance to make your BUY at the bottom. Mostly, as a group, these stocks are still slightly DOWN to almost even from the price they were when posted. This is from having called the "bottom" slightly early. Next week should be interesting!

Time for the weekly update as to the group of 30 oversold stocks. This list was posted on June 08, 2007. The next trading day was June 11, 2007. If purchased on June 11, 2007 as a group this bunch of stocks would now consist of 6 stocks UP and 23 stocks DOWN. Not too good. However, if purchased on June 12, 2007 they would be 14 UP and 15 DOWN and 1 UNCHANGED. Why the difference? The program is looking for stocks making or forming a "bottom". The "bottom" for quite a few of these stocks did not happen until 1-2 days after the program identified them. This is actually what you want. It is good to find the "bottom" before it happens. Then you can use your trading experience to time your purchase. Next week will be even more interesting as to what these stocks might do.

As of June 29, 2007 here is the update on the stock picks. If all these stocks were purchased on: June 11, 2007 14 UP 16 DOWN. June 12, 2007 19 UP 11 DOWN. June 26, 2007 23 UP 6 DOWN 1 UNCHNG The list was posted on June 08, 2007. The list is of stocks forming a "bottom". The user has to make his best guess when the "bottom" is for each stock. Hence, the different performance tables for differing purchase dates.

Hi Buddy : I only have one - Goldman Sachs Group Inc (ticker : GS). They happen to be reporting earnings next week too. I happened to like GS and have an entry in my options trading trading this investment brokerage firm :) Good Luck, my friend. Yours Truly, Tony Chai a disabled trader http://options4u.blogspot.com

Let's see, on June 12, 2007 the DJIA was down about 129 points and GS was UP! Your pick is looking better than mine, which were almost all DOWN on this same extreme DOWN day. I always like it when a stock goes UP on a major DOWN day.

Hi Buddy : What's important is that the tape (stock price) don't lie. If GS starts to cripple it's time for exit strategy. I guess the most important time to decide exit would be after the Feds Biege Book and the last trading hour on 13 June 2007 . Regards, Tony Chai a disabled trader http://options4u.blogspot.com

Any work in that area is very much appreciated as most softwares are proprietary. The choice for basing the analysis in graphs ease the work and complicate the method. It's the end of a very volatile year, so a quick summary, feel free to correct with your more precise info: 15 down , considerably in some cases 2 energy related unchanged (EAS, OGE) 1 bond related unchanged (LQD) 2 treasury bond related up (IEF, TLT) What your program might picked up was the insiders selling before the bad news hit the market explaining the bottom found. Many picks were munis or state pension which put loads in mortgage and real state. Keep it up the work.
