Is it better to have short or long articles. I have written many differet lengths. But which one does people prefer? Do short articles make you seem uncommited and lazy or are they good?

I tend to go for a medium length on Helium. I try for at least two or three paragraphs, maybe as many as five paragraphs, but that's about it. I'm afraid that if my articles there are too long, people won't really read them, but if they're too short, people will prefer a longer article. When I'm rating articles, I usually prefer medium length articles as well. A long article may be very well written, but the average attention span of a person using the internet is not great enough to read a really long article.

I really can't help what length my articles are. If I have a lot to say about one topic they might end up being long. But I think they are intersting through out. I also have some medium length ones, and short ones.

short if they get to the point, long if it's needed to arrive to a conclusion.

I usually try not to make my articles more than several paragraphs because I just don't think people read the longer articles all the way through when rating. This is different, for example, than how I write for Associated Content, where I am usually writing longer articles. Here's a sample of my Helium articles: http://www.helium.com/tm/382313/price-reduced-amount-driving http://www.helium.com/tm/342141/years-dream-visit-acropolis http://www.helium.com/tm/336572/changing-america-thats-american

Thanks for going over and looking at my articles. I always have a hard time with Helium because the topics seem weird to me, ie not what I would usually choose myself. Thanks too for posting all the good questions on MyLot, I know I answer a lot of yours compared with others. I like the writing discussions on MyLot here the best.

Yeah, I have trouble on Helium too. I try to write articles the best I can, but they don't get viewed a lot so I barely get any money. I'm glad you get so much out of my discussions on mylot! Thanks for all your responses.

About 400-500 words is usually said to be the perfect length. Any less and it seems unprofessional, any more and people will rarely read the entire piece.
