Short or Long on Helium?

I tend to go for a medium length on Helium. I try for at least two or three paragraphs, maybe as many as five paragraphs, but that's about it. I'm afraid that if my articles there are too long, people won't really read them, but if they're too short, people will prefer a longer article. When I'm rating articles, I usually prefer medium length articles as well. A long article may be very well written, but the average attention span of a person using the internet is not great enough to read a really long article.

I usually try not to make my articles more than several paragraphs because I just don't think people read the longer articles all the way through when rating. This is different, for example, than how I write for Associated Content, where I am usually writing longer articles. About 400-500 words is usually said to be the perfect length. Any less and it seems unprofessional, any more and people will rarely read the entire piece.
