DId you ever buy anything second hand?

2nd hand is sometimes and option - Most people prefer not to buy second hand... but sometimes it makes sense

Hubby hates the idea. If it was up to him, second hand stores wouldn't really have any business :) Actually most people think like him. But for some things and in some cases I feel that it makes sense. When we got our trailer a few years back it came with a nice sized shed to put our summer stuff. There was also enough space for a fridge which would make things much better than the small fridge inside the trailer. But we only used the trailer during the summer on weekends, there was no reason whatsoever to spend a lot of money on a new fridge. It was hard to convince hubby but we ended up spending less than 1/4 of the price of a new frige and got a very nice second hand one that worked perfectly until we sold the trailer. WOuld you buy anything second hand? Or you wouldn't even consider the idea?

I think buying stuff second hand is fine (especialy clothing). You just have to watch what you buy. If your looking for something specific then buy new but otherwise I might go to the thrift store just to see what they have. Take care, Terry

I don't have a problem with second hand for certain items. There is no way I want used socks, boxers or make up items, but anything else would be considered. The only item that has ended up costing me to much are used cars, so there won't be any more of them.

Mostly everything in our home is second hand with some exceptions. I would buy second hand if the items were in good condition however I do prefer to buy new when it comes to clothes shopping. I wait for all the sales before I purchase any clothing.

Not that I can recall. I normally buy only the "first-hand" things. I will only buy second hand things if they are really new. Somehow, I just don't like the idea that I am paying for someone old, that there is something of the old owner(s) remaining. So said, collecting antiques is not my cup of tea too (not that I have the money anyway :P).

I buy a lot of my clothes second hand, particularly things like jeans. I was at a normal store earlier, and found a pair of jeans that I liked for $20. Instead, I went to GoodWill and bought 3 pairs of jeans for $10 (and a cute skirt for $2!). Definitely a good way to make your money go further.

Yes, I have bought many things second hand. Sometimes it is just the smarter way to buy.

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying stuff second hand. I have to admit that there are certain things that I'd rather buy new, but I don't mind getting some things second hand. I prefer to buy things like clothes brand new, unless they're coming from someone I know. For the most part though, I think buying second hand is a great way to save money! You can always clean things up of course and disinfect them, so I don't think it's gross or anything.

I often buy second hand products: clothes, books, LPs, vintage cameras. Lots of things, really.

I love buying second hand. 1. Its cheaper. 2. It keeps things from being thrown in the trash and crating more waste. 3. Its interesting to see what some people don't want that is valuable to me.

Hi arkaf61! There is nothing wrong in buying second hand stuff. Most of the time it serves it's purpose and you get it for 25% of the actual price. I have bought furniture and electronic stuff in the secondhnd market.

Yes, and I do as often as possible... expecially when it comes to clothes. You can find some pretty cool stuff second hand. Things people get tired of that you will love. I go to the thrift stores as much as I can because it saves a lot of money. Never bought anything big there like a fridge, though.

We buy second hand a lot. Not junk, but good quality items. There is no sense in them getting thrown out and creating more trash! Kids grow so quickly, why spend tons of money on clothes they may wear once or twice? Shoes too. We've bought second hand appliances, refurbished them and sold them for profit also. We are ALL about turning a profit at our house :)

there is nothing wrong with second hand stores. my wife and i shop at them all the time. why pay full price for something if you don't have to. we bought a fridge from goodwill for $100.00 a year ago and it works fine. it is in great shape with not markings our dents. ask yourself this: do you go to garage sales? if you do then there is no difference buying something at a second hand store!

I see it as a very nice recycling program. Of course there are things that might not be in very good conditions, but many are. There's people out there throwing out completely new things - appliances, furniture, etc. etc. etc - just because they're redecorating.

Heck yeah! If I can't get something for nothing, I get it for as little as I possibly can. I love second-hand stores. As a matter of fact, I've thought of opening one of my own, some day, when I can afford it!!!

Um..nearly everything I've ever owned has been second hand..there's exceptions of course..but compared to all my clothes, toys growing up..paper..pens..everything was previously owned by somebody else. I couldn't IMAGINE buying everything brand new..the prices are INSANE these days. Why buy an eraser for a dollar when I could put a single eraser in a paper bag, toss in loads of other stuff..jeans, shoes, whatever..for a dollar? It makes more sense. Besides, previously owned things tend to have alot more character than new things. Besides, the newer things are, the more likely someone else has something absolutely identical to it! And I always considered it best to be original..and anything that smacks of cookie cutter cutouts (identical, mainstream, etc)..I've always had at least a tiny bit of dislike for. I also don't believe in wasting money. Compared to buying your stuff in thrift stores and garage sales, to walmart and the mall..it's wasting alot of money. And that's money some people don't have..HOMELESS people'd give their right leg for even HALF of the money people waste these days.. So..yeah..^_^' sorry for kinda goin' on there, heh.

sectional living room suit - This is the second hand furniture we bought for our new home.
When we moved we bought a beautiful second hand sectional living room set. We didn't have a lot of money to furnish the house, and we desparetly needed a new couch so this was a good option. However we bought it from a friend, since he was moving too and buying new furniture. But I have bought things in second hand stores, I don't see anything wrong with it as long as the stuff is in good condition and a reasonable price. We do plan on replacing it, as it is a little too big for my living room, but it was a good purchase.

personally, i want to buy second hand items because they are cheaper. i don't see anything wrong using second hand clothings like denims and shirts specially if they are branded and looking like they are new items. there is this one second hand TV i bought about 8 years ago and it is still working until now. here in our country the philippines, we have a lot of stores or stalls selling second hand clothes (also known as 'ukay-ukay')where you can buy 4 kinds of clothes at a price of$1.

I am very lucky with second hand things. Many of them I got at ebay. And the time after Christmas is perfect for buying second hand items. I got household items really cheap that were almost new and I am very happy with them. What is not quite what one person wants is sometimes perfect for me.
