We all know or heard of Japanese eating puffer fish as a delicacy. Most would be shock at ehy anyone would risk their life to eat a fish, when "there are many more fishes in the sea" I was introduced to a pufferfish delicacy recently. This particular puffer fish can only be found in brackish water. For those not familiar with the word "brackish", its the river mouth where saltwater and fresh water start to meet. The puffer fish apparently is very delicious. Its meat is not like regular fish, a little tough like beef. The taste is its own. My host assured me I won't die since his wife personally "cleaned" the fish. I waited 20minutes before eating the fish. Just to see if they both would drop dead. When nothing happen.. ...wow! its great. they hmade soup. the texture is different. nice. there is also a opne made into salted fish. i never imagine me eating salted fish but these are great. Nayone here eaten puffer fish and willing to share what they think? Would YOU eat a poisinous fish?

I think become so mad when he found out to have eaten this kind of sea-creature without his knowledge, he thought his friend prepared a regular fish. He even wanted to box his friend, he felt betrayed. His friend just wanted him to taste it, which my dad sweared not to. I guess my dad's reaction is a normal reation to anyone, who never wanted to risk their lives. I would never try that! If noone betrays! LOL. Now I know its puffer fish, we locally call it "butiti". Thank you for another new idea here in mylot.

i don't blame your dad. its not a nice to feed someone without telling them what it is. My friend was fed rats by his girlfriend. He was hopping mad. sure it was "clean paddy field rat" as his girlfriend puts it, but still someone won't eat it just because its a rat and nothing to do with hygiene. ...your father have every right to be angry.

Fugu! i love fugu. i love it for the texture and taste. its a cross between chicken, fish and nuts. thats how it taste to me anyway, the texture is nothing like a regular fish, its nice to chew on. as for the poison, no worries. if you are fated to die that day, then youd get run over by a bus while walking out of the japanese restaurant!
