Need help for a little kid that refuses to eat breakfast.

From experience I know that every mom handles this situation differently. So far, my little kid happens to be more like me, in that she doesn't like to eat breakfast. Growing up, I didn't like eating breakfast either. Well, not until Saturdays or Sundays. Or, unless it was a special occasion like Christmas. Are your kids like this? How do you deal with a kid that won't eat breakfast? Do you insist that they sit at the breakfast table till all the food is gone, or let them off the hook so they can start their day? I'm more of the lenient mom and less likely to use the iron hammer, my way or the highway, techniques that some moms use. But, at this point, I would like her to start eating something when she wakes up. They say it can help her out in school. And, I'm all for that. Do you have any ideas that work on your kids?

Hi Beautyqueen26. Yes breakfast they say, is the most important meal of the day. This is especially true for children since they need their energy and it will keep their minds more alert throughout the school day. What kinds of breakfast foods does your child prefer? Maybe work from there. There is a lot of new products on the market these days that can make breakfast fun but still healthy. I found this great article with some great tips online for you here.. http://www.drspock.com/article/0,1510,6027,00.html Hope this helps!

well, I would buy my son those frozen french toast sticks. I usually do not like frozen food like that, but he eats it and he loves it, so I buy it. Also, I found making fun shapes out of pancakes. Or letting him choose cereal, helps a lot. Pop-tarts too, he likes, although I give him those maybe once a week. Prety much whatever he'll eat. =)

Hi beautyqueen, my boys are 5 & 6 and they know that if they don't take their breakfast. (They ever refuse to take breakfast, so I let them go with only a glass of milk) Their little tummy will be "calling" them in the middle of the class. They felt embarrasse so usually they take heavy breakfast to start off. Usually, they will have cereal or sandwiches (hamburger, ham and cheese, egg with sausages, peanut butter) and a glass of milk. Start them slowly, once they use to take breakfast, they can't go without it.

My 3 yr old dont like to eat breakfast. Ecspecially when he first wakes up. It takes him at least an hour or 2 until he wants to eat. UNLESS I give him fruit. Latley I have been giving him an apple or a banana in the morning. Not anything too big buy enough to fill his tummy. Try this it might work....kids love fruit!
