Only 270 people admire their parents... Come'on mylotters!

June 10, 2007 5:20pm CST
Seriously though. I'm sure many more would add there parents to there interests. Are you surprised that so far there's only 270 people? Yeah I know, not everyone adds their interests which is why I'm mentioning it now. Would you be clicking yes after posting? (this if I get one) but seriously again, my parents have been a huge inspiration in my life and I'm sure it's the same for others here too. Happy admire parents day.. (maybe not official but I could always dream) hehe ~Joey

Hello, joeymatthews,i have not counted the official numbers officially, may be people are just lazy to add this into the 'things they have done in their life' in mylot.Or people think it will not be a topic they are really intereted on. I admire my parents 100%,I am not sure i have add to my interest or not,if not,i will add to my interests then.:)

Thanks for joining my little appeal :) I'm sure it's because people just aren't aware that they can add it here. (also it not greatly important) well not to be, still It's a subject and interest that I would love to talk about... (hehe) Kudos! ~Joey

i not only admire my parents ...i love and respect them more than anyone i can think of...they met fell in love got married ...proceeded to have nine children ...we had love and laughter galore on the family farm...we were taught the joys of family ...mind you we learned about fighting and scrapping too...but my parents taught us that the last words we spoke at night were to be good night i love you...all spats and irritations were put to bed before we were allowed to find our bed...my Da is gone now but never forgotten ...my mom is the glue that holds this family together...i cant tell you the depth of my admiration for Her... toriaT14

I'm not trying to bash you or anything, but a lot more have their parents under peopel they admire than you think :) sure only 270 people have "my parents" under people/admired. But 714 people have "my mom" under people/admire and 320 have "my dad" under people to admire. I know that is still not good with almost 97,000 users, but it is much better than what you thought earlier! :) I'm just trying to make you think a little higher of mylot users =P Now just add 270+714+320=1304 people who admire their parents =P Or at least one of them.

Sure I was aware that mylotters would have broken down versions. (such as mum and dad alone) But family united are tied and I was talking "my parents" I'm sure they have their parents under hobbies and things like that or what they like to do. (I respect and admire both my parents) which is the main focus. :) Even if you we're trying to bash the effort what really would be the problem but nothing would change. I appreciate your response + the effort you went into to explain. Kudos, ~Joey P.s It's nice to see this has gotten 4 more to add it, which is really great. (shows who we are proud of as a whole) :)

Oh! Okay I apologize. I thought you just meant people don't have their parents on interests (thought you meant either or both). But I do agree with you. It's sad not more people add their parents under people they admire. I think more people should!

I admire my parents more than anyone else in my life as they have been a huge inspiration for me growing up and they still are now. I am surprised with all the members here on myLot that the number is not higher. They should be on the top of everyone' list though I know some may have never gotten to know their parents or their parents left them. Fathers Day is coming up soon so hopefully everyone will do something nice for their dad on this day.

Well, I am one to NEVER admire my parents, so I definetelly will not add them to my interest. I personally think very little of them. They have not been an insperation to me, considering how they physically, mentally, and sexually abused me. I will NEVER have respect for them. Although I respect those with wonderful parents, and I admit, I am quite jealous of those people. I just wish I had good parents like most have had, but the harsh times with them that I have been through have made me a stronger person. I admire anyone who respects their GOOD parents. I will say, many people have different lives with differnt sorts of parents. Not everyone has good parents though, such as me, and these parents deserve NO respect.

Ah.. I'm sorry to hear that but still I'm glad you could share it though and it is a valuable response. (thanks) My wife doesn't like her parents either, sure I don't and If they was mine I wouldn't be writing this or even discussing it. I agree... (good points) are those who deserve our respect and especially single parents who try so hard to get on with life. ~Joey Thanks again Jennifer!

why would i want to put my parents as one of my interests?? i love my parents and i admire them also, but come on, who here really wants me spouting on about them in discussions lol. plus if i did want to start a topic on my folks, i would just put it in a general discussion lol. nice thought though i guess, you never know, one day i might add mum and dad to my interests :D

Well it was here long before I had joined. (I remember typing in the three people I admire) So I'm sure it's important to some :) As for starting discussions about parents, you know you'd be surprised with how many people would reply to such discussion. (parenthood is one of the biggest parts of life)

Trouble is my friend a lot of us take our parents for granted, they are always there for us, good times and bad and they become part of the furniture and we never stop to thank them for being there, apart from mother's or father's day. You are right it is surprising only 270 people have added parents to admire, lets hope after your posting it goes up tenfold!

I certainly won't be adding that to my interests any time soon. But I also know that I am a rare breed - and most people look DOWN on my for my stance about my parents. But they didnt treat me very well, so I'm not interested in even communicating with them. But I do know that most of my real life friends really love and respect their parents. So it is suprising the number is so low.

Well, I do feel better knowing I'm not the only one. You may regret cursing, but at least your parents know where you stand. I simply changed my locks, my phone number and blocked their emails and just stopped talking to them. I did send them one letter telling them to give me some space and let me come around on my own time. They never did. Which just proved my point. I actually had to call the police on my mother for trespassing and harassment.I now live out of state, and they can't really bug me anymore. But thanks for sharing...

Parents added, I guess one of the reasons is you have so many interests to list that you forget what to add. But I've added parents now (;

I'm not even sure where to go to choose that, so it may come from lack of knowing what to do also, but I'm new to mylot, so it may just be me!

I admire my parents to a point. We did not get along very much and I always felt like we're strangers. Hopefully, all of that would change someday.

i agree with you completely, mylot population is nearly lakh but only 270 of them admire their parents, its really a shame.my parents are big inspiration for me,i even dont have enough words to explain what they have done for me.i am sure of one thing that most of the mylot population loves their parents but may not admire them.but still i love them and admire them both.

I admire my parents. My mom has always referred to herself as dad's geisha girl and she did a lot of things that a geisha girl would do. Dad was the light of her life and you could always see that. A lot of the things mom did in her marriage I have followed. Like not going to bed angry with each other. Giving each other little notes saying I love you. Making your man know that he is top notch in your book. These are some of the things mom shared with me. I think very highly of my parents.

I actually put my parents in by individuals not by marking them "parents" . Yes, they are my parents but I see them as individuals who I admire for separate reasons. I didn't really stop to think to mark them as parents. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and yes I have since corrected the error of my ways.

Hi! I'm new here so please bare with me. I really admire my parents too. My mom and dad are divorced. My mom took care of my two sisters and I. She worked a minimum wage job. We didn't really have a lot when I was growing up but she gave us everything we needed. My dad got us every other weekend. He was hardly ever late and he never failed to pay my mom the child support money. My parents both made sure that we felt loved and like the most important people in their lives. They will always be heroes in my book. They brought two other wonderful people (my stepparents) in our lives. So for that I'm truly thankful. I've never felt bad that my parents weren't married because they never made it to where I wanted to. They've always gotten along no matter what. That to me takes a lot of effort for a lot of parents. But my parents did it without question.
