I hate colds no matter when they come, I have asthma too and it seems like over the years it is taking longer and longer to get over them, I was told a few years back that I suffered from second hand smoke syndome which caused my lung function not to be like the norm so that I had to take extra care when getting a cold, which I am horrible when I get around someone that has one, just because I don't want to endure the pain of getting yet another cold for the year. I have this great recipe for sore throats and cold, hope you enjoy it: SOOTHING CHICKEN SOUP 2 cups sliced celery 3 quarts chicken broth 4 cups cubed cooked chicken 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted 1 cup uncooked instant rice 1 envelope onion soup mix 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme 1/2 teaspoon pepper In a Dutch oven or soup kettle, simmer celery in broth until tender. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 6-8 minutes or until the rice is tender. Hope you feel better, my friend!

I once had a summer cold that lasted for six weeks, in fact, I went to the doctors because I thought I had developed allergies. Nope, the doctor said it was just a cold and I had to let it run its course. Of course, back then I was young and kept running and working, now I know just to go to bed. I'm copying that chicken soup recipe too for the next time. I hope you aren't passing around your germs here on myLot? LOL

Oh that is worse than the winter ones. When you rest if you can sleep in a semi-sitting position it should help a little. I wish there was something besides rest, and fluids that would make you feel better! If you were here in our town I would back you a big ol' batch of chicken soup!! That, I believe is a big help!

Yes, I have and they seem to last forever. I don't know why but it seems so much harder to get over a summer cold than a winter cold! I wish you a fast recovery over the cold! Take care of yourself!

I have had summer colds in the past. It has been awhile since the last one. I hate it because during the summer is my time to relax before the new school year begins. In reality, most teachers take about 4 or 5 weeks off and then they start thinking about the new school year.

I agree - summer colds are the worst. The weather is nice and you WANT to be outside, but you can't! I had one last summer, but it was right after I started a new job, so I believe the stress in my life contributed. I'm not going to get one this year!
