Dumb and Easy Question

How long does it take your household to go through a gallon of milk? I don't drink milk because it upsets my tummy but I'm a cereal freak so my fiance and I go through about a 1/2 gallon per week. That's probably the least amount of any posts that will follow here!

I don't think your question is dumb. I LOVE milk! We are a family of 5, two adults, me and my adult daughter and my daughter's three sons. We don't drink as much milk as we should but we do go through a couple of gallons a week. I'm sure we will go through more when the boys get older too. I am the one who drinks the most milk in the family. I mean I will drink it plain. Everyone else in the family just has cereal every day and sometimes some chocolate mixed into their milk. When the boys are in school, they drink milk at school too so that helps out our milk budget!

Yeah, just wait until those boys are grown! My grandfather has a cousin of mine living with him and he is a BIG BOY. He drinks a gallon of milk each DAY. I mean, "hey guy? you're taller than anyone in town, you can stop drinking it already!". I know a lot of people talking about switching to powdered milk since the prices on milk are climbing. I don't think that's ideally a place I would look to cut to balance out my budget. But many say there's really no difference in taste and whatnot. That I'm not sure about. Would you switch since your family drinks more??

I would not switch to powdered milk to drink. It tastes A LOT different, it's not so good. If it was mixed with regular milk, then maybe its drinkable. I've tried it that way. I have used powdered milk for cooking for years but for drinking, no way, not for me!

I wouldn't have assumed it taste the same either! Or else why have liquid milk?

there are 4 ppl in my household. i dont really drink milk very often cause, like you it seems to upset my stomach. the man of the house will eat cereal with milk but thats it. now the 12yrd drinks milk with every meal (well except lunch) and the 83 yr old i take care of drinks milk almost as often as the kid does. lol so on average i'd say we go through about 2 to 3 gallons of milk in a week.

It upsets my stomach in a major way too. What is it with boys and milk? Why does it seem they drink so much more than women do? Is it because we can carry our own at times? lol Are men compensating? LOL Just kidding. :p

We drink about 1/2 gallon a week. My daughter likes it on her cereal, my son likes his cereal dry, and I only eat cereal once a week. Plus it also goes n mashed potatoes. Milk is expensive where I live, about $3.50 for 1/2 gallon.

PS to the tater talk: I use milk in me taters too. I don't like the way cream tastes in my mashed taters. That is all. :p

We don't go through milk that fast. I buy it by the gallon, and half of the time i end up throwing it out because it spoils. Now, if my husband or myself get on a cereal kick, the milk will go fast. Lately I've been throwing the milk out though. I should buy just a small carton since we have been wasting it so much.

My son and my hubby love to drink milk all day long. If I don't stop them we would go through at least a gallon every day if not two. As it stands now we do go through about a gallon and a half every two days. At $3.49 a gallon thats a heck of alot of money! I am glad I don't drink the stuff and neither does my daughter. If all four of us drank it we would be in the poor house because of milk!

You've got to be kidding! Dang. See??! What is it with men & milk? It seems us women just aren't that interested in it. Maybe it's something Freudian? LOL

Between myself, my wife, and my father we use a gallon in 2 weeks time. I am neither much of a cereal fan nor do I drink milk. Sometimes a gallon sits so long it starts to sour in my fridge. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hiya Grandpa Bob! Long time no chat! (I weened away from myLot for awhile with moving to our new place and all) But hey? That sure isn't much milk considering your family's size. :p Milk upsets my tummy so it tends to pass it's expiration date in our fridge too. Unless, of course, we happened to pick up one hell of a yummy box of cereal that week. Cheers!

We buy a gallon of milk every other day.... my girls are both pretty big milk drinkers. We drink water for dinner, but they have it on their cereal, then will have a glass at night too as a snack. Milk is good for kids, so I let them drink as much as they want.
