I was quite unlucky in that respect, although I attended a private college in Greece, they had nothing like that there. To be honest I was notoriously known to be the ugly duckling, a bit like the Ugly Betty but being picked on instead of being liked. My memories of school were not that good, especially with all the bullying. No handsome prince to take me to a dance, only boys beating me up and cussing me because I was a skinny little geek in nhs glasses lol.

oh my goodness. i am so sorry to hear that. that is just horrible and makes me sick to my stomach that children and even adults treat each other that way. just horrible

Prom picture - Andrew and Melody at Senior prom
I didn't go to my prom, but I did go to my husbands. It was fun, but not really memorable for me as I didn't know anyone there. If it were my school prom it would have been different. I know how you feel about your son going to prom. My son had his senior prom last year. I was so proud of him all handsome and grown up!

I didn't go to my prom. I was too "cool" for that. Of course now I'm mad that I didnt! My oldest son went to 3 proms though, so I lived vicariously through his!

Yes, I remember my high school prom. I didn't get to go to my senior prom. But I went to in my 10th grade and 11th grade. In 10th grade I went with a girl that was in 11th grade and we went and then we ate at the white castle and then we went to a friends and partied and spent the night. I remember playing quarter bounce (a drinking game) and I really got messed up, but I knew we were spending the night and my mother was fine as she knew I would never do anything crazy (like drink and drive). She had no idea we were drinking at a friends. She just thought we were spending the night with a friend. I came home the next morning and it was Easter and all our family came over and I was hung over bad. LOL In 11th grade I went with the man I am married to now, and it was on the Belle of Louisvill ( a tug boat) and it was beautiful then we had a party at his apartment. We all spent the night. They didn't have the after prom's they have now where you go to the school and stay there and party. I am sad I missed my senior prom, but my mother couldn't afford me a dress and I didn't get to go. Prom is such a special time in your life. Memories... I hope your son cherishes them now.

I do remember both my proms but they weren't that much of a big deal. We couldn't invite people from outside our school. During our senior prom, our dates could only come from inside our class.. ^_^

Yeah it did suck because of the dates and all, but since there was just 5 of us in our class, we treated the event like a night-out for us. We still had fun ^_^ I'm sure your son had a blast too!
