If your child came home from school or somewhere with chicken pox, would you tell everyone? Like a kind of warning to all the people he has been in contact with? I mean probabilities are that he has been exposed by someone else so someone else should have it too, but why haven't we heard of it? We goto church with some nutty parents that get majorly upset with things like this. It happened a few years ago with a little girl had not come to church one week her parents feared she had caught them and all the parents went nuts. They were outraged. It is nobodys fault and it happens. Knowing this would you still call or email everyone?

I would let other parents know just so they could be prepared and look for the symptoms. I think so parents don't tell because they think some might get mad. Which I think is ridiculous because almost all children get the chicken pox and they have to come from somewhere!

Right and true. My son caught it from someone somewhere. There is nothing i could do to change it, but a little heads up would have been nice. I like to know what to expect if I have the chance.

Yep, and have. My girls just had 5th disease last school year and I had to not only inform their school but all their friends as well as the family. If you have never had it, you can get it no matter the age. Some were upset, but I reminded them the girls didn't go get it on purpose and that’s life. I normally don't let the fear of someone acting like a jerk to stop me from doing the right thing, you know? Great topic btw!

Thank you. The thing people forget is that you have to cath it from someone somewhere. Nobody purposely sets out to catch a disease that is contagious I don't think. I think a heads up that the disease is out there because my son caught it is great but I hate that people think he caused it.

I would definately tell as many people as I could, especially if they had children themselves. As for those nutty parents they need to get a bit real and realise that these sorts of things are just soemthing that happen to children.

I sent an email out to our playgroup and only two people responded and it wasn't so rude. Those two were nice enugh to ask to take the other two kids away fromthe situation if I needed help or a break. Out of 20 only 2 understood that.

I would just to let them know so they could watch their children and know if they start to feel bad to go ahead and get them to a doc. No, it is no ones fault but if I were one of the parents I would apperate a call and would not be mad I would be gratefull that I could moniter my child and see if he started to get it to.

I would definitely try to track down everyone my child was around recently. I know that if they were already exposed there is nothing they can do except look out for the signs, but I think it is the responsible thing to do. I have appreciated the notes that the schools sent home saying that something is going around and what to look out for. Whether it's pink eye, chicken pox or whatever it is nice to have the "heads up" and I would do the same for others.

Ilike getting the notes too. It is like a heads up to what your kid could have inadvertantly been exposed to. It is nice to have the chance that something could happenand not be totally surprised when it happens. Chicken pox is a contagious disease that is just part of life. But the underlined word should be contagious. It came from somewhere else. Nobody should be pointed at as the starter of it all.

I believe it would be a good idea to let everyone know and in turn they should not be outraged. No one can control it. They just need to take necessary precautions to prevent their children getting it or to be ready for treatment in case the children get it. I got mine at the age of 24from a little girl. I must say it wasn't a pleasant experience.
