My 5 year old daughter had bronchial pneumonia when she was about 8 mnths old. Since then she suffers from chronic bronchitis, and get sick at least twice a year. Now that winter just about has us in its grip, I need to prepare myself for when she gets sick again. I don't like the idea of antibiotics so frequently, and would like to know if anyone has an alternative for me. Our doctors have to give generic medicines now if possible, and she has become immune against most of them. I usually give both my kids whey protein to built them up, and it seems that it does help a bit. Any advice welcome. xxx Ronelle

Oh sweets that can't be fun! My 5 year old daughter has asthma and gets at least 2 chest infections every winter! We are going in to summer now but that doesn't mean we can relax though as she got a chest infection in the middle of our summer holiday when the weather was good! I know how worrying it is with chest infections and chronic bronchitis must be so much worse, I pray that your daughter has a good winter. I don't know if this would help but it might so have you tried steam treatments when it is bad? I know that relieves my daughters breathing when she is having trouble breathing - it loosens the mucus so it does help! I am afraid that is all I can suggest but I will keep an eye on your discussion to see what others recommend! xxx
