Aside from the bidding sites like guru.com, getafreelancer.com or open content sites like AssociatedContent.com, Helium.com, Epinions.com, Suite101.com and daytipper.com (etc.) . . . where do you find the majority of your freelance writing work? Do you rely on WritersMarket.com, job boards, newsletters . . . or . . ??

Anyone know of sites like these that are open internationally? I really want to try and join, but most only pay through paypal and we don't have it here. What we have here is so unfair. You only get paid for $1 for 400 words. I have heard that most sites like these in other countries pay a lot more. Can you guys help me?

I'm in the Philippines. I joined a creative writer's group here, they only pay $1 per article and it's much pressure, what ever happened to the 'creative' part? Hahahha.. It's ok with me if they try to 'pressure' me only if they can pay more for what I'm worth. =)

I think this depends on what your goals are as a freelancer. I use AssociatedContent.com as a supplemental income for the real deal. I pitch and pitch and pitch to various local, regional, national and online magazines. But that's my deal. For inspiration and how-to info, I frequent spj.org (I'm a member) and mediabistro.com (on which I'm an AvantGuild member). I actually came to mylot through AC. I'm just now establishing a base of articles and will start promoting them soon... Hence my membership here. ;) But, I don't plan to spend a lot of time promoting or writing for AC, since it's not very prestigious and doesn't pay very well. For a working writer, anyway. I also check out journalismjobs.com now and then, for any freelance postings.

You have a good list of sites here, including several that I hadn't heard of. I thought maybe I could add to your list, but instead, you have added to mine...
