Freezer/Fridges Cleaning

We just cleaned out our deep chest freezer. So we are letting it be plugged back in for an hour or so and then can put the freezer stuff back in. Then I'll clean out the regular freezer in the house. Then the inside of the fridge. Then Thursday we can do some major grocery shopping again. It'll be nice to get food again. Though we still have a lot of food, just not enough. lol How often do you clean your freezers & fridges? Do you hold off on buying food while you are going to do it?

I do try to let the deep freeze get kinda empty before I clean it out, but I'm embarrassed to say that I only clean it out once a year. Now the fridge? About once every 3 weeks I wipe everything down unless there's a spill, and every other 3 weeks I take the shelves out and totally clean it. I totally understand what you mean about having room again! Kinda nice to have all the vegetables with all the vegetables!

Lucky for me we are down to only one fridge/freezer, no deep freeze anymore. I used to hate that cleaning chore! I would do it every 6-8 months usually. Now the freezer part in my fridge is small enough I KNOW it's not too old if it's in there! LOL

It's funny to me that you started this discussion because just last night I was thinking that it is about time for me to clean out my fridge and freezer. But today I have other cleaning chores that need attending first like the bathrooms and kitchen. Then maybe tomorrow I will do the fridge. LOL. I do it about once a month.
