How did the frozen roast end up in the floor right next to the trash can?

I came to see my parents today because my sister had been here for a visit. So my sister had gone and my mom turns to me and says, "Did you leave the roast in the floor by the trash can?" Well, for a few seconds I was speechless because of all the things to ask me, I wouldn't have predicted that question. So I inquire about what the heck she is talking about. She said she came home yesterday and there in the floor by the trash can was a fomerly frozen roast in the floor by the trash can, slowly thawing out. She says she knows she didn't do it, my sister says she didn't do it, my dad denies it, and I know I didn't do it. The day she was speaking of, I only spent two hours there, albeit it alone. I do not remember opening the freezer (it's a side by side), but I did open the fridge to get a bottle of water out. I contended maybe the freezer was full and it fell out when no one was home, sliding to the trash can. I asked if the freezer door was slightly ajar when she found it and she said no. Well, my mom is a bit forgetful, but she is so careful with food that I doubt it would have gone unnoticed. On the other hand, my sister acts like if something falls out of the freezer, someone else is obligated to pick it up (this attitude doesn't carry over at her house with her husband LOL). My dad is so often lost in thought that I can see him letting it fall out and not picking it up. But I think he would have mentioned to someone to have them pick it up. This is not a question about the universe, but I ask you, how did the frozen roast end up in the floor right next to the trash can?

It was wrapped up, so it didn't get dirty. My mom said it was too far in the thawing process, so she set it out and is cooking it tonight for my dad in the pressure cooker. They didn't know they would be eating roast tonight, but fate had different plans!

AmbiePam, I love a good mystery! Where is Jessica Fletcher? It seems that you are pretty sure that you did not put it there. Your mother seems curious about this that, I am sure she did not put it there. Your sister did not put it there. I say it is a cross between your dad, who opened the door and it rolled over and he forgot to ask someone to pick it up, and did not want to admit it...and a very strong dog of the house who could not chew on it because it was frozen.

If only they had a dog that would be a good explanation! LOL

That being the case, I say dad did it, but don't tell him I said so.

Perhaps it was your dad, looking in the freezer for some treat, so engrosed in the hunt that he might not have noticed the meat falling. I only say this because my husband just did something similar. My daughter had her power knocked out with last Friday's storm. Since the electric company estimated that the power would not be back on until Tuesday, she emptied her freezer and brought her stuff here. Yesterday, I was in the pantry, and I noticed something on top of the freezer that looked like balloons. I looked, and there were two frozen pizzas in plastic sealed bags that had swelled up with the fermentation of the pizza dough. It was so funny to look at, like those balloons with something inside, only this was pizza inside. I told my husband what I found, and he admitted after a while that he took the pizzas out and put them on top of the freezer to look for something, and he forgot to put them back. At least he remembered doing it after a while. Sometimes I do some pretty whacked out stuff too, when I'm tired or stressed out.

Oh, THAT is funny! He says he didn't do it, and he may not remember, but I think the likely culprit is my dad.

AmbiePam, I have solved this mystery for you. You see this is always happening at my house. And after asking everyone of who did it I always get told " not me" and "I don't know" so I have determined that the "Not Me" has decided to tell us what we will be eating that day. Some days he throws out a roast other days it throws out some chicken. Once it even threw out some popsicles. "Not Me" does a lot around here so one day I would like to be able to show "Not Me" my appreciation.

Yes, this is one situation where "Not Me" is getting away with something big. "Not Me" should have had to fix the roast!

Amiepam you do appear to have a mystery on your hands. A comical one at that. I guess the only way your going to figure it out, is put on your detective glasses and start investigating. LOL.

Day 10 of captivity. I have found that if I push hard enough I can open the door of my frozen cell. Silly humans, they never lock the door. I have noticed that stuff that goes in the plastic container with the plastic bag inside gets released when it is full. If I can make it to the . . . what did I hear the humans call it? Oh yes, the trash can. If I can get to the trash can, then my freedom is guaranteed!

Maybe it was grazing? It is one of those questions;"Why is the world round?" Maybe a vegatarian ghost was passing thru the freezer? The dog did it!

Hmmm, I think you are probably on the right track. Someone opened the freezer door, & the roast acidently fell oyt. It couldn't have gone unnoticed, so it wasn't you. My guess someone was too lazy to pick it up! Was it thawing out?

Not until is spent a couple hours on the floor by the trash can. : )

Well, what is the mystery? In my opinion, someone left it there. The person could have wanted to throw away the roast, just that the roast is unable to fit into the trash can. Or perhaps intentionally left it there to thaw and then create some mystery to have some fun.

The mystery is who did it? And did they know they dropped something? Everyone who was in that house on that day is genuinely perplexed. No one would throw it away and no one would deliberately leave it in the floor. And we all think we would have heard something if we had done it.

That wouldn't have been a question I would have predicted, either! Especially at my house. The question would have been more along the lines of, "Where is the roast?! Hey, what is all that chewed up roast wrapper down at the end of the garden? Dogs!" I think it must have fallen out. Frozen roasts are pretty hard, I imagine, so maybe it just shot across the kitchen floor. Life is funny like tha sometimes. It's usually safe to blame it on the dad!

I assumed it must have made a big sound that should have alerted someone, but maybe it fell out when the TV was loud, or maybe it wasn't as loud as I think when it fell.

Hmmmmm... That is a head scratchier. Maybe your are right and it fell out. But nobody noticed the door open. Or they did see the door open and just shut it not thinking to look on the floor for a roast. Wish I could be of more help good luck with the mystery.

Yes, those ghosts frequently put trash on top of an already full trash can. It's amazing how those ghosts show up so regularly. : )

Hi. Did you ask your mom why she believed that you would have placed it on the floor, and by the trash can? That's what I would want to know! Why in heck would I want to put it on the floor; what reasoning would anyone have to place it next to a trash can? This is such a hysterical dilemma that you have posted, and I hope that we all learn of who placed it on the floor. How funny is that?! My guess is that it fell out of the freezer during a discussion causing the parties involved to be distracted. Too funny! ;.D

Ya know, now that you bring it up, my dad recently got a really big TV because my mom thought he should have one toy. : ) And he is hard of hearing, so if the TV was on, one of them was on the phone...they could very well have gotten distracted. I just find it funny I no longer live there and they still blame it on me! : ) I mean sure, years ago I wouldn't put the lid on things and my dad shook the Pepto and it went all over the counter, but that was like a decade ago! LOL

My guess is someone did go into the freezer to get something that day. Something fell out, they stoop down and picked it up not realizing that a roast had also fallen out of the fridge. Someone must remember that senario!

hhahaha this is such a weird and funny post! anyway my guess is as good as yours, i think it probably fell out when the ref door was opened. the stranger idea would be that the roast sprung legs and jumped out the ref, but couldn't make it past the trash can haha! ok i'm just having fun with this. i'm gonna stick with the former explanation though.

I say blame it on the house elf!!!! LOL This almost sounds like a trick question. But it does sound as if it did fall out of the freezer and no one noticed or did and forgot to pick it up and now no one wants to admit to it. Sounds like a job for Sherlock Holmes!!! LOL Good Luck on this one i hope you find out who let the roast out.

I think my mom suspects me, but other than blaming it on my dad, I'd like to blame it on the invisible man.
