Do you sometimes get tongue tied ? How do you feel when this happens ? When does it happen ? Do you try and start from scratch ?

Ever? Try constantly! My other half says its cos I never give my tongue a chance to rest. I end up giving up and saying something totally different! Funnily enough when i am drunk it never happens...........................................xxxx

Haven't had a chance to drink in soo long! Think it is cos I am relaxed when I am drunk - the cramp in my tongue gets a chance to wear off! I'm not a sombre drunk - I just wanna have fun and don't get stressed by anything! lol xxx

I do from time to time and I usually take a deep breath and start again. Sometimes my tongue feels thick and I think I sound like I have been drinking even though I haven't. It's strange and I don't know why it happens.

I get tongue tied a lot. I am very shy, I talk fast and sometimes, I guess I just don't feel confident when I'm speaking, because I'm afraid that it will come out wrong, and when it does, my husband will always say, "easy for you to say" (he says that to himself too, except he says, "easy for me to say"). It makes us laugh and we go on with what we're saying so it's not usually too embarrassing after that.

I don't think my tongue feel tired, but my throat is tired. Then I know I have to try to speak less, otherwise I am afraid I am unable to speak next day.

I hate it when I can't get the words to come out right. Often times my second attempt is worse! I laugh over it and tell people it is the first day with my new tongue.

I havent experience this one, for a long time. LOL... maybe because I am use to start a conversation. I am with sales and so speach is a daily practiced skil. In case I have a tongue tied, I will smile post a little to run some ideas to talk about in my mind and start again.

this happens to me a lot! ^__^;; im a very forgetful person and i even forget some words or terms that i very well know before. and to think that im only 25! ^_^;; when this happens to me i usually get the help of who im talking to, to help me remember the word or events that had happened before or some terms we both encountered. but if that person does not know what im talking about, i think so hard just to remember and i mean really hard! LOL sometimes it takes a while. sometimes it doesnt. ^__^;;

Oh I get tongue tied so much I think my tongue has a mind of it's own! :P LOL Just yesterday while I was placing a pizza order over the phone I got tongue tied! One thing I said was I'd like to order a man instead of a pan! :P Talk about embarrassing! I just kept on going, but before I hung up I apologized to the guy on the phone and made an excuse that I was in a hot truck. Which was true, but it shouldn't have gotten me all tongue tied. Next time I order a pizza I'll make sure to write down what I want and read it off. Hopefully it'll help! LOL

I do trip over my tongue quite frequently. I had a professor of English once tell me it was because I am intelligent and my mind is going much faster than my tongue can move - so my tongue is a couple of steps behind my brain and as a result gets tripped up. I do not know how accurate her assessment of my intelligence was, but it sure sounded like a good excuse at the time!

LOL after reading your discussion Calais i remember all those times i was tongue tied. once in school i had to read the news and i just stood there looking at everyone until my teacher took the mike and said 'Girls today is Silent news day' and everyone laughed so much that i finally relaxed and read the news and it was one of the most memorable moments of my school life! and there are so many others i can tell about as well but now i have learned to over come and can talk nineteen to the dozen LOL

I don't usually get tongue-tied! Now I come across your discussion and I really think hard about the last time I got tongue-tied. I think I have never experienced that before. But if I do, I would just make some jokes and keep moving on the conversation. I don't think I would start all over. We are not perfect and I embrace that sometimes *laughs*.

Yep, I get tongue tied and I sometimes stutter when I get nervous or embarrassed, try to be assertive or when I get intpo an argument. I just struggle through as though it's normal. It's only been happening the last few years, I can't rememebr being like this when I was public speaking.
