If you shop at any of the larger grocery stores you know that most offer you a loyalty or rewards card to get extra savings. Do you have any? I have them for several grocery stores as well as CVS Pharmacy. Have you ever worried about you privacy being compromised when you use one or sign up for one? Personally, I'd rather shop at a store that offers across the board savings than to jack up the prices on some things and offer "member specials" on other things.

I've got several, one in particular is a grocery store one that gives discounts on gas at their stations. Dollar for dollar that one seems to have actually been worth it. I'm not too worried about them compromising any more of my privacy than already has been by other agencies. They just care about what I buy so to entice me to buy other stuff with different coupons. The Department of Homeland Security used to get Credit Scores on everyone who flew and would either harass the heck out of, or in some cases prevent from flying folks who didn't have credit ratings they liked. THAT is a privacy problem and an abuse of power. The grocery stores, they just wanna make a buck. And I have a signed contract with this one that they won't sell my name to anyone.

Good honest lowest possible prices for the same quality products beats enticements anytime. As we all know, nothing is free, and you pay for give aways, or special offers in one way or another.

That is so true but people rarely stop to think about that aspect of it. If you are saving .25 on a can of corn chances are you are going to end up paying more for your ground meat or milk.

I have two cards. One is for CVS...which I rarely use because you can't use it towards prescriptions. Which I think is a load of crap. The other is for win dixie. Which I have found at times the card is well worth having but that is it. When I lived in Ohio, I have one for a store called Kroger's. It was great and I saved more at that store than any other store I shopped at.

I have cards for only a couple of stores now; Staples and Ace Hardware. I used to have one for our local grocery store, and was happy when they discontinued the cards and went back to the across the board pricing. I really never cared for having to worry about the cards, and really don't like the idea of anyone keeping track of my shopping habits. I just don't feel that it is any of their business.
