How do you feel about Australia using Nuclear Power?

Federal Labor leader Kevin Rudd says Australians will have a choice at the next election between a government that supports nuclear power plants and uranium enrichment and an opposition that opposes them. "It's very clear: Mr Howard wants 25 nuclear reactors plus a uranium enrichment industry for Australia," Mr Rudd told reporters in Newcastle. For my part... I think nuclear power is the only way to go if we want to reduce pollution. As we cannot reduce our hunger for energy... we need to produce it in a cleaner way. It turn out now that countries like the USA and France who went ahead with it 40 years ago... despite the dangers... did foresee the future. If France was producing electricity through coal... they would never see the sun... for the pollution. Australia's population has more than doubled in the last 40 years... and continues to grow. Which means that our pollution to produce electricity has doubled. We cannot seriously object to pollution when we are one of the worst offender in the world. We are more likely today... to die from the effects of climate change... than we are from an accident with nuclear power.

Hello,aussies2007,I think nuclear power may be a trend for the whole world as the cost of using it is relaltively cheaper.Coal and oil are actually scarce but nuclear power is not, that is why nuclear power is a good alternative for oil in generating electricity. And just like what you said ,nuclear power can reduce pollution. It is very important to ensure the safety of using nuclear power which will be the main concern about it for all of the people in australia.
