What is a Hero?

We can give a exact defination about hero,he must do some great things,and all people benefit from him. I do not think the athletes are not the real hero,he just perfom perfect in his play field,maybe he is hero to his team,he is hero to his fans,but not all of people in the society. Hehe...some of man who immolates for society benefits,then they will be defined to be hero.just in my opinion.

I have always thought it would be someone who saves the world. A herois someone who saves somebody's life .

A hero is someone who does something to benefit other people at a risk to him/herself with minimal or no personal gain. An athelete is someone who get paid a lot...to play a game --- his net effect on the improvement of society or people - zip, zero, zilch. How much do firemen and police make for putting their butts on the line every single day...nothing compare to an athlete who plays a game a few times a week.

Athlete's are not heroes in my eyes. They are entertainers. To me a hero is someone who willingly puts their life on the line to save someone else. That man that threw himself on top of the person in the subway, that is a hero. The firefighters and police involved in 9/11, they are heroes. Our soldiers, our firefighters, our police, doctors, nurses, people saving people. Those are the true heroes in this world. Not athletes, not movie stars, not politicians. Real people that give of themselves, that lay their lives on the line veryday. Those are heroes.
