Found money is so Suh-weet!!!

Now I'm sure we've all had that experience of finding money on the ground. Now some people might feel some guilt while picking it up and spending it, but there's no real way to find out who it belongs to, unless it's in a wallet. But loose change, that means "finders keepers" and sometimes it happens when you most need it.. I am so broke these past few weeks. So much so that the other day at the mall, I didn't have enough for dinner.. Actually I usually have dinner at home, except on Thursdays, that's when me and my sisters go to the mall and hang out and have dinner there. So, imagine my joy when as soon as we reached the food court, there were 2 dinars just lying there in my path, which is equivalent to 6$ which is more than enough for dinner.. That was awesome!! And it only happens to me when i really need it. Cool, right? So have you ever found money, when you actually really needed it?

Hey that's quite cool! I hope I'll never really need money but it would be great if that happened to me too :) I'd probably leave a thank-you note at the spot I found the money, just in case it was an honesty test (to justify my dishonesty, heh) or someone actually knew I had financial problems and left it there for me.

Well, even if it is a dishonesty test, I don't see how picking up money is dishonest. I mean I remember I found a wallet once, and I turned it to the mall security. Keeping that would have been dishonest, but lost money is like yours to claim.

yeah, I know what you mean, but the thing is even if you hand money to security, they would just keep it themselves.. and since there's no real way of finding out who the money belongs to.. so if you need it, keep it...right..

In schools here we're taught that picking up anything that's not yours is considered dishonest, but I see your point too. I'm not saying you're dishonest or anything btw just clarifying why I'd consider an honesty test. It's great that you returned a wallet! :) I'd return a wallet too but heh money I find on the floor would go to me XD

I have not your good luck!I haven't the experience like you.But I think that I would tell the manager of the food court when I saw the money in my path.Maybe I make a fuss over a trifling matter. You are unemployment and you ought to find a job.Hope you'll find a good job and make a lot money.

Okay dude, hope you're not judging me there... Well if I had given it to the manager, how would he know who to give the money too, because if I lose money I don't go looking for the manager to find it for me.. I lost a phone in the mall once, and that should be easy to locate but never found that either, even though I did speak to the manager..so seriously, there is no way to trace money back to someone. The manager would probably just keep it and then the rich would get richer.. If you found money on the street, what would you do?

oops sorry. I can't believe I did that myself, I'm a girl too and sometimes people refer to me as dude or man, so my bad. Over the notice thing, who knows how many people would turn up for that. And I've lost money myself before, but I didn't know where exactly I lost it, so there's no way I would know where to look for it, anyway, that's why it's called "losing" because you don't know where exactly you lost it.

At first, I am not a dude and I am an woman.I would not judging you there yet.You are right.May the manager don't know who to give the money, but he can post an information on the gate of the food court. If I found the money on the street,I wound waiting for the loster.

I have found money a couple of times, but not when I needed it the most, and the money would be very very less not even equivalent to half a cent.

The most I've ever found was a $10. I was so happy that I did a little happy dance. It was the end of the month and funds for me were a little tight. Just finding that $10 enabled me to go to the movies with my friends and have a great time. I suppose I could have saved it rather than spend it right away, but I wanted to make it feel like a special thing. Now if only I could find that much again. The most I've found lately is $1.

Well, 10$ wouldn't have been a lot to save anyway, and the way I see it, found money is game, and meant to be spent.

I once found a $20 bill on the ground, near our apartment. It was definitely at a point when I could use the money, which made it even sweeter to find! :)

i often found loose change lying on the floor... i think i am just the lucky one... it ranges from $0.05 to $2.00... the most money i had found lying on the floor is $5.00... i am very grateful for whatever money i found as i treat it as a blessing from God... well, if i don't take it, i believe somebody else will...

I never don't need money, lol, so I guess anytime counts.I used to work in an overnight convenience store that sold coffee, after a drunken crowd came in and left, I found a pile of wrinkled up bills all over the coffee station, like someone had rifled through their pockets looking for the right change or something and left heaps of cash all over the place.I folded it up neatly and said if anyone came looking for it that night, I'd give it to them otherwise they had lost it,lol. It totaled maybe twenty dollars altogether.

Wow, cool! yeah, if they had come looking I would give it back to them too, but if they don't then there's no way to track them, so no guilt in keeping the dough..

I rarely ever find anything in the street as I tend not to notice things around me much. But I have to tell you about the other day when I was going to a friend's birthday at a restaurant/club. I dug out an old handbag to match my outfit I was wearing and was thinking "I have to go to the cashpoint to get out money for this evening" and lo and behold I find a £20 in the bottom of the bag (it had fallen through some open stitching) and over £17 in coins too! I ended up spending this money through the evening which was a pleasant surprise for me as normally I'm not so lucky. Now I look forward to finding my next little bit of money fallen through holes in other bags LOL! x

Yeah, that always happens in winter with me when I find money or sometimes even gum in the pockets of my winter jackets.. That is awesome! And no guilt there, either, because the money is definitely yours.

there was one time i found money in a super market near my house i found about £20 i was quite happy because obviously its near impossible to see who owns it , when i got home i spoke to my neighbour and he seemed a bit upset , i asked him what was wrong and he said he thinks he lost his money for bread and milk i asked him where he went and he said to the supermarket and he got his milk and bread took it to the counter and couldnt find his money .... they guilt set in and i handed it over - honesty is sometimes the best policy

Yeah, well, if I knew whose money I found, I would give it back to them too. It's just in other situations when you definitely can't tell whose it was.. and you really can't go asking around...

Well, I've only found money thrice too, but I've found really small change like pennies lots of times. Dinars are the currency here, in Bahrain. One Dinar is like 3$.

I was in the ocean one time and felt what I thought was a jellyfish touch my hand (there had been a lot of jellyfish around, not the stinging ones though) so I looked down and found a $20 bill floating in the water next to me. i was amazed. I felt bad about taking it but I really wanted it anyways so it wasn't a big deal.

My wife and I found £10 on my sons birthday. I noticed it, she picked it and we was going to give it to someone if they "could" prove it was there's but nobody came to us and we thought well the pub would only keep it. So we did, ~Joey

yeah, well, no one can actually prove that money is theirs, so there's no point in even asking, anyway, can say it's mine. When it comes to loose money, I say finders keepers..

I once was smoking in the driveway of our last apartment, and I used to walk up and down the drive, it connected to the back alley and people walked up and down there all the time. On this particular day, I walked up the driveway, and looked out over the alley. Nobody was about which was strange in itself. Then as I turned to go back down to our apartment, something caught my eye. A $20 bill. I picked it up right away and stuffed it in my pocket lol, then ran down the driveway and indoors. I felt paranoid and thinking omg what if it's a set up or something. It was just eerie that the back alley was so silent and empty LOL. Needless to say, nobody came knocking on the door.

Yeah, a little bit of paranoia does come after you've picked up the money. I'm also thinking what if someone sees me, or what if someone comes to me and claims its theirs, or like you, I think, what if it's a setup..ha ha, so much paranoia..

I've not found money that I remember. Good for you. I can see how found money would be sweet in that situation. But I hope you find a more reliable source of income. I'm now motivated to respond to your discussions in the hope that the additional boost to your MyLot earnings will save you from starving. :)

ha ha thanks a lot, but actually the reason I'm usually broke is because I have no savings system so I just spend whatever I have and I do surveys and stuff which gives me a steady income every few weeks, so I'm not that pathetic, ha ha...but thanks for the concern..

Once my husband and I were driving one of his basketball girls to a basketball camp and stopped at a fast food restaurant. We looked over and there were dollar bills blowing across the field! My husband ran out and picked them up, there was about $15. We gave it to the girl we were driving so she could use it at the basketball camp we were going to. I love it when I find money in the pockets of my jeans, coat, etc. I tend to forget I have it in there and it is a nice surprise!
