Theres a new here in the Philippines that Friendster will be close. It is said that the closure of the site is an order from the United Nations because the site promotes "dating"" eyeballs" and "casual s*x" to individuals, even to minors.

Im also a friendster member here in the Philippines but in my opinion, its just a normal routine for sites such as friendster, youtube and such other sites to have weekly maintenance to further improve their services...I think you'll have to worry if Friendster goes for a month or two of maintenance or for an indefinite hiatus, that's when you have to be bothered,IMHO.

Never heard of that before....I dont think U.N. will even bother trying to deal with such issues with networking sites because they got a lot more serious issues to tackle regarding all the countries around the world, and in such issues of Friendster, I think its the Users consent if they will be engage to such "unwanted" activity way beyond what Friendster is really after, its staying connected with your friends.

I don't think the UN can order sites to close for those reasons. After all, lots of dating sites exist and they haven't done anything to them. Plus I don't think that's an issue pertinent to the UN right now... they have their hands full with climate change, Sadan and lots more problems.

yah but dating site usually needed credit card or to be premium access to fully used the service they provide.
