4 months ago, she was prescribed something different for an infection, but the doctor didn't tell her that it would make her birth control ineffective. She went to a clinic that says it does abortions. For three months they made her come back twice a week while they hemmed and hawed about whether she should have an abortion that she wanted Then they said she had only 3 days to get the proceedure done and they couldn't fit her in for another 3 weeks. So, now she is carrying a baby who is going to be born with major birth defects. Do you think she should sue the clinic directors for not telling her they would deny her an abortion on their religious grounds, and for the major bills she has to encur to have and raise the baby?

well first of all you can't sue somebody for free. That alone could cost her a buttload of money. I don't get it, is this the only clinic in your town that does abortions? Where's this girls parents at? She hasn't told them? Does she have regular health insurance? If I wanted to have an abortion & one place was messing around making me wait longer & longer to have it done I would find another place to have it done. I don't think trying to sue the doctors or the clinics is going to help this girl at all. She's going to then be stuck with not only medical bills she can't pay but lawyers bills too. What type of meds is she on that there is going to be birth defects? Has she been tested & the deffects have been detected already? I find it very hard to believe that NOBODY told her it would affect her birth control. Not the doctors, the nurses, the pharmacist? Nobody told her? She could always have the child & give it up for adoption? Nobody said she HAS to keep it. She has options available to her she just has to look into them.

I've heard from many women that they were unaware that certain antibiotics can make the pill ineffective. There are also a handful of other medications that are not recommended while on the pill. One of the common set of circumstances I have heard is when a woman sees a dentist for an infected tooth. Although your dentist will ask if you are on medications, a woman may think why should I tell someone looking in my mouth that I am on the pill? It wouldn't seem that your teeth & your birth control method have anything to do with each other- but infections are treated with antibiotics & many antibiotics interfer with the pill.

Has she had testing done that shows the baby will have major birth defects? Although being on the pill at the time of conception does have some risks- the two most common are dwarfism & a specific heart defect that I can't recall the name of at the moment; it doesn't mean that ALL children conceived while on the pill will have these issues. And the antibiotic for her infection could also pose a risk, but it probably won't. At the very least I would report this "clinic" to the authorities. They're misrepresenting themselves.

First of all, people arent always right when they say something is wrong with babies before its born, it could be perfectly healthy. and 2nd of all, obviously this worked out this way for a reason. God knows what hes doing. Its our place to pray for the child and ask that Gods will be done in his/her life.

It depends whether she should sue or not. Generally, any doctor you go to will ask if you are taking any medications first thing into the appointment. Did the girl clearly state that she was on birth control?? Did the doctor even ask? If the doctor didn't ask, that could be malpractice. If the doctor did ask, and the girl denied taking any medication, any lawsuit would be null and void. There are also several different facilities that perform abortions if that is what she really wanted. Generally you have 12 weeks to have an abortion from the date of conception. If she already had her mind made up, she probably should have gone somewhere else to have the procedure done. And by the way....there are MANY loving couples who willingly take in handicapped children to their homes, if she chooses adoption.
