Honey, he might just be doing his job. Just ignore him. If you see a private number calling, just ignore it. Let is ring and ring and ring. Some days he will give up.

I can't ignore it because I have a lot of people that call me with a private number, He is riciculious with this. I got something for him the next time he call when I get through with him, he is not going to want to call.

Well, till I get my own private number, I think those using private numbers are very rude. Why should I talk to you when you won't even announce who you are? I normally ignore private numbers.

Have your girlfriends and anyone else you want to talk to who has private/unlisted numbers to have a code such as let it ring twice, hang up call again let it ring so many times and if it is your code number of rings you can answer it.

Hang up or just don't answer when its a private number. If you have an answering machine and its someone you want to talk to, they can let you know who it is. You can tell them to stop calling, but I don't think that will do any good.

Get voicemail or an answering machine. You can screen the calls then. http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/debt/debtguide2004/debt-horror1.asp Check this out, it might be of help to you. The does and don'ts that they are supposed to work like. Good luck with this.

I think you can have their phone number blocked from calling you. I've never done this before, but really need to look into it, since my daughter has bill collectors calling her and she know longer lives there. And what is aggravating about this is that it's not a human on the other end, it is a darn machine.

I think this is rude marciascott I wonder has your husband tried to call him? I think that you really should just hang up if hes been rude or tell him hes being rude and it wont get him any closer too sorting this out. I think that if hes harrassing you I would just hang up though. If he wants to talk to you he needs to find some manners.

I would just hang up. If you don't want to do that then ask to talk to their supervisor or manager. This seems to work and usually it is easier to talk with them.

Yeah it is real painful situation when people calls and they don't understand what you want to convey. They just stick to their topic and harass you. Same thing happend to me, i forget to pay my credit card bill and i went out of city for fun with my friends, i went to my friends farmhouse 200 kms away from city for 3 days. Credit card company started calling me 7 times a day starting time 7:00 AM and they keep on saying that you have not paid your minimum due amount, i told them that i am away and i can't pay now if you want to impose late fee fine you are welcome and i am away from city and i can't pay. They don't understand me and they keep on insisting that they are sending some executive to my home and i should pay that guy and if i am not at home i should arrange my friend to pay the amount. And these people called me several times a day. I called to customercare and informed the situation and the haressment calls but i am sorry to say that lady also did not understand me and told that minimum amount is must which me or my friends should pay. Now i have taken firm decision to cancel all credit cards.

I know the feeling we have strange numbers coming up on our phone all the time . When the children would answer the phone they wouldn't say what it was about just that they needed to speak with me . The other day they started calling at seven o'oclock in the morning and let the phone ring , when my daughter answered the phone she got mad at them and told them not to call back this early as I wouldn't be taking any calls at that time of the morning , the continued to call back and one time let the phone ring fifty two rings ( my daugther counted ) , I thought it was telemarketers but then found out it was bill collectors . They call my house all day and all night , no matter the time and let the phone ring continuously . They are trying to get money for a bill that I have already paid and I am tired of dealing with them . I don't have any proof that I paid the bill ( the receipt is around the house somewhere but it was from years ago and I have no idea where it is ) , I have tried to explain to them that I already paid but they won't stop harrasing . I don't know how they are allowed to do this yet they do it everyday . The numbers showing on my phone are 1-800 numbers and the other one is 1-000-000-0000 . I don't find them ever pleasant and just down right rude .

I have caller ID on my phone, so if it isn't a number I recognize, I just don't answer it. My hubby gets mad at that, but I just got tired of trying to deal with the bill collectors. I have alot of unpaid medical bills from before I was married, and it is just never ending. I tried getting on payment plans, but what I could afford, they did not want. But they do get nasty with you, and I don't think they should be that way.

I run the answering machine... - I run the answering machine, catching all the telemarketing calls and calling back or picking up on the calls I want. I do this because I have a lot of folks calling my place trying to sell me things. Even inappropriate crap like mortgages, debt consolidation, and tin siding for my home. (I live in an apartment and I'm not shopping for a new home.)
I see two easy options. One, run the answering machine, catching all the calls and calling or picking up on the calls you want. I do this because I have a lot of folks calling my place trying to sell me things. Even inappropriate crap like mortgages, debt consolidation, and tin siding for my home. (I live in an apartment and I'm not shopping for a new home.) Two, you can get a gadget from the phone company that tells you what phone number is calling you. I forget what they are called, but they let you know who is calling you from where. That can help you report this (bleep) to the authorities.

I think since he is your husband you are as nuch responsible for the bill as he is. However this man has no right to harrass you. The next time he calls tell him when your husband will be home and when he is let your husband answer the phone. Try recording this man every time he calls - let him know that you are going to report him for harrassment. If it continues - my suggestion to you would be to contact your telephone company. If you can record him use the recording as proof and I think your telephone company has to then change your number free of charge.

Hi Marcia,I do hate to get phone calls from bill collectoters also. I do not even answer the phone, that is why I always look at the caller I .D.If it is a 800 or 888 number or private number, I do not answer it. They can just leave me a message.
