Deep, into that darkness, peering. Long she stood there, pondering, watching, waiting.

My cat does that too... i think he is hunting a bug or something but whatever he is doing up there in that window he seems to be enjoying it so i don't bother him too much...

Have you considered calling her a philosopher? We do not know what goes on in their little minds. I had a dog who always stared out of the window but we called him 'Majnu' lover boy because we knew that he was looking at other dogs, or waiting for one to come.

Don't you understand the need to stay alone and think, really?;) I like to do it too. So I understand your cat. Maybe your cat don't want you to look at her while thinking and she decided to watch the dark sky. My cat isn't so introverted and deep LOL Every time she stares out the window, she is waiting for my dad to come back from shopping with some yummy things for her.

Cats are bored. They like to be nosy just like people. They like to see what is going on as well as people. Sometimes they do see more than we do...

Supposedly, cats can see ghosts. It has something to do with their increased dark vision or something like that. This is one of the many things that people suggest the reason that cats stare out windows or stare at walls for. Other reasons, such as why my cat stares out the window, is that they see bugs or small rodents, and they are watching them through the window.

Hi ZaffireWolf,Is your cat neurotic or deeply contemplative? Afterall cats were worshipped in Egyptian culture because of their elusive, mystical way of peering, pondering, watching. They are also masters at balancing their energies between play and relaxation better than any human I know. Also, they sleep so deeply that whenever I have insomnia and look at any of our 5 cats I think they have something figured out that I periodically miss. Aren't they great!
