How BIG is your DINING TABLE?

Dining Table - How BIG is your dining table?

"The valuation include this dining table set. We imported it in. It is unique in that the glass is heavy duty". My brother-in-law was attending to a prospective buyer of the flat. The dining table was made of glass and comes with 8 chairs. In fact, it can take about 12 adults seated comfortably for a meal. The reason they are giving away is that the table is too big to go into their new flat. In my home, I have a small round table as a dining table. To some, it is like a coffee table. Some of my friends do not even have a dining table at home. I observed that 4-6 seater tables seems common in most homes I have been to. I have also seen one dining table which I found rather unique. It is foldable and can become a 8 seater when expanded. Friends, how big is your dining table? How many seaters? How unique is it? Or are you like some of friends who do not have a dining table. Do share with us the dining table in your home. Thanks.

Mine is just a small old that looks some yellow jasper marble but I have no idea what it is actually made up. It comes with 6 chairs so you can have a guess at how many people should sit around that table. It's not a good table because it is more oval than any other shape. A round table is better (for knights lol) since all would be able to stab at the food with equal ease.

I agree with you. My family makes it a point to have everyone at the dining table, even though I have a really big family and sometimes there's not enough chairs for everyone. For me, family bonding really happens when we're all seated at the dining table.

I agree. In my family, it is difficult to gather everyone at the table yunless it is on special occasions. How about both of you?

Yeah, I'm not staying with them and my elder brother lives with his own family, so it's really special once everyone's seated for dinner. :)

I don't really know. I use my grandfathers as my computers, tv/laptop's desk and there's still a large space on there and it could be extended as there's parts which can be pulled out from under. (takes a lot of room up) size I don't know though. ~Joey

I have a small dining table. But I feel good when sitting on a big dining table..where atleast 6 people can sit and have their meal and chat together.

Hi bighead. My dining table is unique in the sense that it was the only thing I inherited from my parents, LOL. It is a 6-seater round table made of narra wood. I think the table has been with us for 25 years already. Narra table will never ever go out of style. In fact, it is quite expensive to buy narra table nowadays. I had it repainted and polished up 3 years ago. I would love to have those heavy duty glass table but its not advisable if you have little monsters staying inside the house. The glass itself is dangerous for my little ones. :)

Will it become an antique? That's valueless. Let your little ones know so they know how to preserve it.

At home we have 2 dining tables. One's in the kitchen that seats 7 and is used by the family on a daily basis. It's round, with a marble table top and wooden legs. The other dining table is used when guests come and it seats 8-10 people.

I don't have a dining room table. I can't afford one, nor do I have a place for it in my apartment. I'm quite happy with how I have placed the furniture, and if I added even a small dining room table, the place would be too crowded. I'm single, so that is OK. I just sit on the chair or the couch. And if I have people over, it is always casual and they are more than happy to sit on my couch or chair as well.

Though we have a dining table at home, I do not eat there as well unless on occasions. I just take the plate and sit in front of the tv or my computer ;P

Ours is extendable and has a separate peice you can add in the middle to make the table longer and bigger to fit more people. We only have four dining chairs at the moment as there is only three of us. I think the whole table can seat up to 8-10 people. It is oval shape and made of dark brown wood - not sure what type of wood it is as it was given to us. Its big enough to have 8 people playing poker on it LOL

That means space need to be allocated before you can "extend" the table to accomodate 10 people. Might be good idea to convert it to a poker table and have games all day round.lol.

I have a small square white color dinning table comes with four chairs. It's just an old table nothing special.Well as far as i know all of my friends have dinning table as well. My dinning table just fit for two of us me and my husband, but when comes to party we have to move away this small dinning table and replace with the bigger rectangle table which allows for eight persons.

Would assume the bigger rectangle table is already somewhere in the house? Is the small dining table the type that can be easily put away?

i've got a dining table that comes with six chairs. it's got a marble top and wooden legs. the six chairs have marble seats and wooden frame. however, it won't be a problem to squeeze in another two person. i love the marble top as it's really easy to maintain. just a wipe after use will be good. cheers :p

Our dining table can accomodate 10 people, but we only use it for gatherings or special occasions. We have another table, a smaller one, it's round, just enough for 5 people..

Our dining table is huge with only two chairs. We'll get more someday. I never liked the idea of not having a dining table because it shows that the family don't have meals together, that is just so sad to me.

Since we live in a condominium, not very big space compared to where we lived before, we needed a table that fits for six people when we have visitors but is small enough to fit into a small space. What we have is a regular dark brown dining set that fits in our family, my hubby & 2 kids.

I have a dining room table that was made by the Amish. It seats 8 when closed. It has 4 leafs that can be put in it when opened. When opened all the way, it is 10 ft long and seats about 20 people. I love it because we have the extended family over for dinners and everyone can sit at the same table.
