Vengenace on the ECW Side

Since there's only one match it can make it pretty simple to actually talk a little bit about this. We have Chris Benoit vs. CM Punk for the ECW Heavyweight Championship. I believe this is going to be a great match up. You have CM Punk, whom I'd say is probably one of the fastest rising stars in the ECW brand. I think he has some potential to really become a major player if given the opportunity. This I think will also help establish regardless of the outcome. He could very well get his 1st title in WWE, the ECW Title. I know it's not the same as it was in the past but at this point and time it won't matter. I think if Punk wins it, he could very well be a very solid champion if given that chance to prove it. Chris Benoit is established as one of the top stars in the WWE today. He's held about every major title that's currently active except for 2 titles, the ECW Title and the WWE Title. It has been 3 years since he last won a World Title and that was at Wrestlemania 20 where he made HHH tap out to win the World Heavyweight Title. His submission base style and ability has earned him the respect of the wrestlers and the fans in general. You could say he's one of the most respected men in the entire WWE or possibly the whole industry in general. I think either one of these men will make a great choice for being the champion and could bring something to the table. If I had to pick a winner, I'd say I'd give it to Benoit more because I think with Punk, it's not time for him to get the belt. Give it some time to build for him and he could very well be a great champion. How fitting would it be for him to beat Benoit for the title? That could possibly lead to being an instant star. Thoughts on this and then part 3 coming up soon with the Smackdown side of the things.

I would also have to say that Benoit would come out victorious since he is a veteran and has battled with all the best wrestlers over the last so many years. His experience will help him to victory over CM Punk. CM Punk will be champ eventually but not right now. It will be unusual to see Benoit in ECW since he was with the WWE for so many years.

That is true but since ECW now is just a brand, he's still with them but I know what you mean. We're not used to him on this particular brand. I think your point on Benoit beating Punk due to experience is very possible. I also see Punk becoming after this bout as I think it will be a great match.

I think Benoit would be an excellent choice. Much was made in backstage news from Smackdown when Benoit took MVP under his wing and really worked with him on being a better in-ring performer. I think the same can be accomplished by Benoit in the ECW. They could give it to CM Punk because he really is the star who is the most "over" in the ECW, and he would definitely be a uniting force against certain ECW individuals (New Breed, Nitro, and other heels)...
