Considering the stupid mistakes we all make, the above statement seemed to be quite true.

This must have been said in lighter vain. I do not think common sense is uncommon, if so, we would have been fool among fools.

I learned common sense from my parents and from school. It has served me well all these years of my life. I believe common sense can be dulled if not listened to by our inner being. I have seen people try to rationalize an action that normal common sense solves easily.Yet I still feel common sense is still the stability of life and not uncommon at all.

i could totally agree with that! It seems so, especially with the way people drive!....no common sense whatsoever.

You said what was in my mind. Wonderful. A man use to pick up quarrel in office, because his wife failed to give him a kiss in the morning!! What a sense. I fully endorse your view regarding people who drive with proper sense.

I think this Horace Greely has it both right and wrong. No one knows what the outcome of a decision would be, but one can come closer to figuring out that outcome, if one takes time to think of the consequences. It is just that people act before they think, and do not think before they act. They also do things according to what others may think or what they assume others may think, which is wrong. What is common sense to some, is uncommon sense to others. One's decision should not be based on other's popularity.

Good evening ssh. As to the viewpoint of common sense is very uncommon, personally I think that it is because when it is common to most people, it is still uncommon to a few because they have no clue about what is the so-called common sense to them. Thanks for your discussion.

If I can talk about dealing with crisis, I can tell you that its very easy to comment and passing judgement on things 'should be's and 'shouldnot be's. But when actually it comes to face it, we lack the same common sense that we pick mercilessly!! We do the same stupid mistakes.

You are right. I remember I have done such mistakes for keeping a wide gap between the praceice and precept. That was due to lack of common sense indeed.

Personally I don't completely believe that common sense is that uncommon. THe problem is that many people tend to act impulsively before they even have time to ponder on what common sense would "say". Most people will look back and say " I should have done this differently " proving that they do have common sense but didn't follow it. Some people do it without even noticing, some notice it but still prefer to act according to what they want at the moment leaving common sense out of it.

Your assessment of people's behaviour is well explained. You are right, when we go back and review our decisions, it clearly shows that we have not applied common sense and just acted on our impulses. Thanks again for contributing good thoughts to this topic which I am sure read by other friends, will definitely improve their performance in day to day life as well as mine too.

This is one of the interesting discussions that I have come across. After seeing your quote, I too remembered one "common sense is the rarest sense". I feel this and even get hurt if many behave in such a manner that they lack common sense. If a person by mistake steps over your foot or hurts you by mistake, it is a sense that he should at least say sorry for that. But, instead if he sees you and stares and moves ahead, that will be annoying.. This is just an example I thought. I come across some persons who really lack common sense. I feel that the common mistakes that we make is different from common sense. If you make a mistake, that may be because of ignorance. You can at any time improve upon that. But those who lack common sense may always be of annoying personalities at times..

This response I call a senisible one, giving example and differentiating between the common sense and common mistakes. You are able to draw the clear cut difference between the two. Thanks for contributing thoughts to this discussion topic. Good day.
