How much would cost home, dog and cat sitting in your country or state?

I am leaving for few days, and I get quote for home sitting that I think is way too high.
For 2 days someone asked $200….
I may take my gods with me, because hotel may charge me only extra $50 for two dogs.
Do you think $200 is just right or too high?

$200 - is that person spending the whole day and night with your dogs? That is a lot. My son used to do that - go over feed and play with cats and dogs, and spend about an hour there each time.
For cats he would charge $10 a day, for dogs, since he would go there 3 times walk and play with the dogs, he would charge $35.

Sorry..he is in Georgia...but you could have caught him in Chicago about a year and 1/2 ago. As he puts it..he was at Great Mistakes.

I never ask someone to do this. I haven't had the chance or money to go for a vacation and leave the house for long. My husband has been on vacation numerous times, I know he won't mind paying for mine, but I want to pay it myself. Anyway $ 200 for 2 days is way too much, I'm sure someone can get you better deal.

I know it is way too much; so far this is the only proposal I have. I am driving on my wild trip...two days only...I am leaving tomorrow morning, but I will take my dogs with me......
Cat will be home alone for about 36 hours only with plenty of food and water....

Whoo....$200 is way to much to pay somet=one to do what you want them to do. I am glad you were able to take your dogs with you. I would start looking around just in case you would need to your dogs boarded or pet sit in the future. That way you can find a reliable person. One suggest thou..when you check people out. If they won't allow you to come to their home or place where other animals are being boarded. So you can watch what goes on. Than I suggest you finding someone else.

well 200$ seems a lot!!! I have never heard of anybody being paid for dog sitting at home, because here they use either to carry their dogs with them or to leave them in a sort of "hotels for dog" where you can leave your pets paying for them on a daily base. But anyway 200$ is so much I think you'd better bring your dogs with you and pay the extra the hotel is charging you.. of course having a friend or a neighbour taking care of your pets will be the best thing, but I read that your best friend is out of town..so let your dogs have a trip!!! maybe next time the person who asked so much will be cheaper seeing that he or she was left with nothing at all!!!! he he
By the way...I love all your pictures..the ones with your face and the others too...I love your work!!!!

My dogs are spoiled; they are always with me, wherever I go or at home. They were very happy on our trip. We were walking few miles per day and they are very tired now.
P.S. thank you for sweet complements. Yesterday I couldn’t see my picture for some reason.

I am going out of the country for 15 days. I got a quote from a woman with a kennel for $12 a day. I live in Northern Illinois, and this woman has a farm/acreage in Marengo. All she asks is the dog has all rabies shots up to date and Kennel cough shot. I think in the end for 2 weeks I will end up paying $200, but not for 2 days only.

Wait- they are coming to your house? Or you are taking dogs somewhere? I think $200 for 2 dogs is a lot! But I’ve never checked into it before- My family takes care of our 2 dogs when we go anywhere- even for a day- Free- Is there someone that you could trust to come in and take care of them? I’d opt for taking them with me also- it’s cheaper!

I always take my dogs with me, but my trip was work related and I was not sure if my dogs can be alone in hotel room for 3-4 hours.
I got an idea to have dog sitter in my home.
Someone who can walk in my house at 6PM in Sat (I would walk dogs before my trip) and stays in till 10 AM on Sunday. I was planning to be back home at 5 PM, so dogs can be alone between 10 AM and 5 PM.
I was asking that person to just let my dogs out (yard) at 6 PM and at 11 PM...and at about 8 AM on Sunday and 10 AM. She could watch TV, movies and sleep, because my pets are sleeping between 11Pm and 8 AM, I was offering $50, but she said she can do it for $200 only.
P.S I am glad that I took my dogs with me, they were acting like conspiracy dogs at the hotel. I asked them to be quiet, and they were sleeping when I was working.

pola i will watch your dog and car for you for 40 dollars a day, just drop them off on your way to do whatever you need to do, personaly i wouldnt pay 20 dollars for house sitintg. but that is me
