Actually the people have become more and more lazy by the time.I do not know for what they live. The computer, TV etc have taken control of the people now.Once kids used to play in ground well. Now they do not want to play like that and only want to watch cartoon programs in TV.Most of them do not have a tendency to to read a book. Some parents may tell that their son (daughter) will read books and study well all the time. But actually they are only by hearting the contents and vomit it over the paper at the time of exam. They do not know what they read.

Because more and more children are hooked on computers now. They do all the research they need to do online where they say it's easier. Second is that majority of parents both work, and they do not have the time or the inclination to read to their kids. It's sad really because the kids of today no longer appreciates the joy that comes from reading a good book.

I don't think reading is dying. Don't we all read discussions on mylot before we post and growing mylot popularity is proof of this. I feel more and more people are hooked on net and read blogs, articles on web nowadays. Though there are always demand for books though in niceh areas like cookery books, classics, novels, kids story books. and so on. And with increasing sales of newspapers and competition magaines i feel people have lot to read that it is easily to get disattracted.

Problem is, we are spending more time on the internet and less time curled up with a good book.

Not only do I think the internet is taking over the way we get information, I think it is taking away our time from reading. Our lifestyles with busy schedules and working overtime to earn the money we need to support our families prevents us from finding time to read. The cost of books is pretty outrageous in some cases. The prevalence of used book stores is causing the decline in new books sales, as is the library and bookcrossing.com where books are passed around, left in public places, etc. and you don't have to pay for the book at all. Just log it onto the website, read it and pass it along to someone else or release it into the wild. Free reading. I do hope books don't go "out of style". I hope to be a published author some day and I hate to think no one will be buying my books. ;)

Actually, I think sales of books are going pretty well. A lot of stores like Borders and Barnes & Noble have made their stores like big, comfortable libraries. They have lots of places for people to sit down, relax & read. And they have coffee shops with sandwiches, desserts, etc. I think they've done some amazing things with the concept of a "book mall and cafe." I'm lovin' it!

I don't know about India, but I never was a buyer of books, I am a reader. I hate newspapers because your hands get dirty from them, and the news can be read and seen everywhere. But books, I think they stay, always. There is no life without books.

Not true! There are just a lot of other sources which people could use for reading like the internet.
