When i get a call on my mobile from a known number, I start the conversation directly. But when I get a call from unknown number, I greet the caller by saying good morning/afternoon/evening and then call out my name. I seldom say "hello" while answering the call i get on my mobile phone. How do you answer a call on your mobile phone?

if I know the person I'll greet them by name, I don't normally answer if I don't know them on my mobile. On my landline phone if I don't know the number I'll say hello & wait for the person on the other end to speak. I will never tell people my name. If the person on the other end wants to know who I am, I'll ask who they are looking for. If the person asks me to guess who they are I'll tell them I'll hang up. I don't play games on the phone with strangers & my friends know this.

Even if I know who the caller is - I always say "Hello" first. I guess it is because my parents always told me it was rude to start a conversation on the phone without saying "hello". Force of habit. After I get home from work, I usually say, "Hello, this is...." and then realize that I don't need to do that anymore...that is the way I answer my work phone.

No matter whether it's my home phone or my cell phone, I always answer with "hello". Now, if it's in the middle of the night and the caller has woken me out of a sound sleep, I am not so nice. Usually the person will hear, "Considering the time, this phone call had BETTER be good!" LOL

I have one moble for bussness and one for my private use. I do more or less the same as you. I seldom receive a phone call from an unknown number, on my privete phone because I'm very careful when I give out my mobile number, I protect it like I protect my personal email address. But should I receive a call from a unknown number I would ask "who am I speaking to" and then "who would you like to speak to"

Old habits die hard I guess, or such is the case for me anyway. I have always answered a phone with a pleasant "Hello" greeting, and even now that I have the chance to see who it is first I still do it. I have never really even given it much thought until now. Maybe I should. I suppose that my friends would be happy to receive a personal greeting from me rather than just a hello.

If the number is registered on my mobile, i always begin with "yes --- name" like "yes mom" When the number is not registered, i say "good morning/afternoon/evening" when the caller ask for me i say, "yes this is she, may i know who is on the line please?" If the caller is looking for someone else who i dont know i politely say "im sory this is not his/her mobile and i don't know a person who goes by that name" Im very polite with those who dial wrong numbers as my work entails searching for people over the phone. I just hope others are polite as well :)

When i get a call on my mobile i invariably say hello or hey. But if i know the number i after wishing hello would directly start talking with the person concerned. But if the number is from stranger i would say hello and if it wrong numberr i say and disconnect the phone.

I usually just say "hello". No one calls me on my cell phone much except my husband anyway.

Man speaking on the phone - Speaking on phone
I most often just answer as 'hello' whether or not I know the number. I find it rather rude to directly start a conversation. But sometimes when I'm expecting a certain call and it comes, I just say, "Yes go on"

On my house phone i generally always start my conversations with hello. My mobile on the other hand i know who is calling most of the time and it depends on who it is on how i answer. If it is the kids and they have already called me alot that day i usually answer with what do you want now lol. It is always different and depends on the mood to.

If I get a call from someone that I know I just say hello and but if I get a call from an unusual number I usually answer the phone hello, Cassy speaking. I sometimes just start a conversation as soon as I answer the phone if I know the person aswell!

I usually say hello no matter whom I am speaking to. I usually converse in my mother tongue or the local languages. So saying a good morning/afternoon/evening would be a bit old fashioned in that language. None of my friends speak in english with me. So following conversation etequettes wouldn't be much of a problem to me. But, yes, if someone unknown to me is speaking to me then it really matters.

when i received a phone call from friends and love ones, i always answer with a low and nice voice. but when i received from unknown people, i answer them promptly but with short messages like, sorry wrong number. i just do not entertain calls from people i really do not know.i am so careful about that.

When I’m at work answering my work phone- I say Good morning (afternoon) and company name- when I’m at home it is just hello--- I answer my cell the same way – If I know who it is- I’ll say hello Kris or whoever- If I don’t know who it is- I say hello- sometimes I don’t answer when I don’t know the number

when I answer a telephone call, I always say good morning ot good afternoon depending on the time. on my mobile phone, when there caller is registered on my phonebook, I immediately call out their name, without any hello. and then I ask why are they calling. if the caller's name is not registered, I always say hello and then ask who the caller is.

I usually just say hello and sometimes add my first name. I just to say out my full name, but it's long and I find it's quicker to just pick up the phone like this.

When I receive a phone call from one of my contacts, I usually answer in a casual tone, almost rudely with "Yeah?" or something of that nature. When it's an unknown number, however, I stay formal and cautious; you never know who's calling, so I answer politely with "Hello?"
