This is a difficult question for me. In general, I do not like my boss. This is often the topic that we, her staff talk about when we get pissed off with her. Its not that she is a dragon lady, it's more because she lacks the leadership qualities that a boss should have. More often than not, we are left to our own defences. It's like we do not have a boss at all because when we ask for help from her to solve a certain situation, or simply to ask for her opinion. She does not give a straihgt answer or answer at all. It's so frustrating and disappointing sometimes because our department is often degraded and reduced to mere "clerks." To be fair to her, she does give us positive appraisals. But then this is overshadowed by her unwillingness to take the lead.

i am sorry hear that mari. some ppl are like that domineering and love to put a halo around them, so that no one can touch them, it feels very bad!! however, i have a gem of a person as my boss. beside being an ace cardiologist in our country, he is a wonderful humna being and that is what matters the mostat the end of the day. i have complete freedom and liberty to do my job, my way. i do it with panache making sure to do it very well. i am really lucky and no amount of money is precious than the atmosphere i work in. this being the reason i can't switch to other lucrative job offers. thank you.

Good for you. As for me, I hate to say this but the only thing holding me from transferring is finances. I have a pretty much good salary and so when I look for alternatives I always consider the pay. I have bills and rent to pay that I cannot afford to consider a job with a low salary offer. But when push comes to shove, I just might transfer.:P Thanks for sharing.

yup i do like my boss. he's awesome! he's very sporting and understanding. always willing to teach his subordinates, although initially we would need to learn on our own as he doesn't want to spoon feed us that much. he's a really nice and kind person who likes to make jokes and laugh, and a very smart person too. i admire him, especially his intelligence, the way he thinks and the fact that he's such a cool boss :)
