Being a Sales & Marketing professional my Mobile phone is very valuable to me. But i get irritated at times when i receive calls from Bank Direct Selling Agencies or Mobile Providers DSA's or Insurance Agents asking if you need a Personal Loan/Credit Card or some new schemes from mobile providers or some Insurance schemes. As a Bank employee i know these telesales people are doing their job too but somehow i have really lost my temper several times. Apart from this i even get calls from people asking or friendship/favours from people whom i have not seen or given numbers or some of myown clients. Have you had such experiences?

Anamika, you are absolutely right. Unwanted calls can be irritating. I also receive such calls...when I am free...then only I hear these kind of unwanted and unsolocited calls...otherwise...I simply say...'NOt interest'. Banks/Other institutions should do something...to curb these kind of calls. (I understand something is going to happen in coming Sept., by the network providing companies, as per the ruling of TRAI, GOI). It is strange that people call you for friendship and favours.(I remember you raised this point in one of your earlier discussions also). You can just conclude that those people who ask for undue favour are mentally sick and must be igonored. Good Post! Deepak

Banks may be generating revenue through tele-marketing. But it is a big problem for the general public...who is not interested in such things.

Hi Deepak! TRAI thing is been heard for ages now. Nothing much is going to happen in that regard.Well.. to tell you he truth telemarkeing brings almost 50% revenue to the Bank. With Banks selling multiple products (General Insurance,Mutual Fund,Life Insurance,SIP, Loans, Acccounts,Deposits) it is an absolute necessity to have telemarketing to get through the customer. Thanks for the response.

I love my mobile, but I admit there have been plenty of times when I've switched it off and forgotten about it for a day or two! :) I'm BIG on screening calls, and like you, I don't even know how some of these people get my number. I rarely answer my home phone, so most people have given up and call directly to my mobile now. lol

Hi AbsentStare! Forgetting for a day or two is never going to happen with me as the MobilePhone is an absolute necessity for me and can't be without that.People get your numbers because of cross selling among mobile providers, insurance companies and banks and sometimes even people to whom we are known.Well the phonecall you receive may be of an emergency or important task so i cannot afford not lifting the phone. Thanks for your response.

I guess we all rely on technology to different degrees. Personally, I like to be able to relax without the constant ringing! Lol I love caller ID, it gives me the power to screen, but if it's something important, I acn pick up. Besides, if it's that important, they'll leave a message or just come over! lol

Hi zandi458! I agree with you that a mobile phone is an absolute necessity these days. I too would feel lost without that. But unwanted calls irritates me a lot. Thanks for your response.

Yes, there have been numerous occasions that this has occurred with me too on my mobile phone. But, I have a very different reason to be upset besides the ones mentioned. The reason is that I have to mute or put in a vibrating mode every now and then because of attending meetings and conferences. My phone is such that you cannot make out that it is ringing when it is in vibration mode, so I prefer to keep the volume on when I am not at work place. But, then again I forget to put it back on muted or vibration mode at office and meetings. Once, my mobile phone rang in an important business meeting because of my forgetfulness. So, this really makes me upset about owning a mobile phone.

Hi tiku1977! I too have the habit of putting the mobile phone on silent and vibration mode. I never enter a meeting without putting it on silent as a cultivated habit. I also make it a point to respond to all calls i have received then and when i find sales calls i bang the phone. Thanks for responding.
