Ode (?) to Pixie.

Pixie was a Maltese Terrier cross Silky Terrier. I knew her from when she was born till her old age. We saw many trials together and she was my best friend, though a little rogue at times. Here is a poem I wrote about her over 20 years ago. Ode (?) to Pixie. In our house there lives a creature With her antics she is a feature. Actually, she's very good And very loved, that's understood. She endears us with her capers, Wrestling with shoes and shredding papers. She's a pain when we are knitting She's on our laps where we are sitting. When we are out she waits at home (Once she chewed up Joanne's comb) She sits patiently at the gate And is so sad when we are late But oh! the joy when we arrive Our little puppy comes alive. Her body shakes and trembles and shivers, She's up - she's down, her tail it quivers, She jumps, she barks she is scooped up She gives us kisses our lovely pup. She's the cutest bundle of pure white fur, When she's around, even the cats purr. She loves to run and splash through puddles Then when she's tired she wants her cuddles She barks and yaps at passing horses "There go some playmates" (par for courses) Her eyes are big and black and bright, When her paws are muddy she's a sight. Her little black nose is so perky and cute, As when she's asleep in my sheepskin boot. I don't know how the cats can stay, When they're asleep - she wants to play; She'll pull this ear and bite that leg, And there's a hole near the line where I'll find a peg. When Nicole is gardening, Pixie's there Digging more holes - it just isn't fair. E'en though the carpet's sometimes damp We'd hate to lose our adorable scamp. I don't have any photos of her on my puter as she wasn't around by the time I got my first one.

Beautiful tribute to a dear friend and companion. I'm sure you miss her as much as I miss Vegas (Las Vegas de Nevada) the Old English sheep dog we adopted from my step-father. Life just isn't the same without him.

Pixie was funny after a bath as well...she'd tear around like a mad thing and come back to be rubbed with the towel, then tear round again and eventually find the grottiest spot to roll in! The blighter. When she got a hair cut, she hated it but I would keep telling her how pretty she was and that calmed her...lol. I think she was vain!

Oh yes, lots of stories - one of my favorites: There were two times that Vegas would leave the yard otherwise he was very good at staying home... Just after he'd had a bath he would shake a couple times then run all the way around the block stopping at each house and 'shaking'. It was just like he was showing off and we always laughed about it. The other time involved the USP truck - he hated them and would run circles around the truck barking until the truck was out of the subdivision. When we lived in Texas the UPS man would park down the road and walk to the house so Vegas wouldn't 'attach' his truck :)

That was a real cute poem. The dog in the picture looks just like my Kris Kringle, I had him for 14 years and I dont have a picture of him on my computer either but still plenty around the house.

Awwww....that is such an adorable poem. I love it. It's amazing how much love our furry children can carry in their hearts for us. And us for them. The world would definitely not be the same without them. Thank you so much for sharing hon.

That was adorable. Thank you so much for sharing your poem about your beloved dog. I think we all could envision her in all her "adventures" just by reading it. I have had a dog all my life, and one in particular I had for 17 years. I know how much they can mean. :)

That's a cute poem. And I can imagine what a cute dog she was. I bet you still miss her, don't you? I think back on pets I had many years ago, and I still miss them as if it were yesterday.

That was a very nice tribute to your dog. Thanks for sharing it. I use to write poems like that for my pets but I have lost them somewhere. Hopefully someday I will get the inspiration to write some more.
