Do you have to be Muslim to get one? I've always been interested in reading the Quran.

No you don't have to be a Muslim. I'm a Christian and I got one bc I wanted to be able to read it for myself. There are many myths about the Quran and Muslims on the net. This way I know what is or isn't true.

Thankyou for that statement IL2Knit. I have seen many non-Muslims here on MyLot getting their facts from baised and propagating sources. It is always wise to get to understand any religion from its doctrine.

Oh I'm so sorry. Is there a Muslim church where you live? I've been told they give Quran's to people that ask. :)

Thanks for the link. Though I prefer reading the Quran in Arabic, I think an english version is very helpful for those who cant understand Arabic.

Yes ofcourse. Reading a translation is always good to understand the Quran. For those particularly who are unable to understand Arabic.

I appreciate you posting this link. I am also a Christian, but find it enjoyable to learn of others beliefs. I am also interested in how the Quran correalates with the Bible (the history aspect of it all). I am glad to be able to "go to the source" for religious information as well. I would not ask a carpenter to tell me about electricity, i would ask an electrician. The same with religion, if I wasnt to know more about Islam, I want to ask a Muslim.

Hi IL2Knit. I'm so glad you posted this and that you are Christian. I have read so many incorrect, hateful things here on Mylot about muslims I was beginning to wonder if there were any "sane" tolerant people here. I think it's great that whatever religion you are, you get an understanding of other religions. And there is no better place than the "source" like the Quran or Bible. Besides mosques there may also be Islamic organisations that will give free copies of the Quran for e.g the Africa Muslim Agency in South Africa and other African countries. May God bless you.
