I had just recently put up a post telling you My Lotters about my iguana, whose name is "Alex". I didn't get not one reply. I told Alex about this and we are both heart broken. He thinks that you just don't care about him.

What happened to her? I heard that the females are a little harder to tend to. Is that true?

We had our iguana, a nice lady ,by the way, for abourt 8 years. She was sweet tempered most of the time, but before laying eggs she would be in a bad temper. Although there was no male around she laid eggs a few times.

I don't get many responses to my discussions about iguanas or hermit crabs either. It's very sad really, as they are both awesome creatures, and I would love to hear about more people's experiences and advice. How old is your iguana? Mine is somewhere over a year old. He's probably about 18 inches long and packed full of attitude. Is yours potty trained? Where does he go? In the water, in a litter box, in one area of the cage? Mine goes wherever he wants, although I find that if I put him in some luke-warm water in the bathtub he will usually go. How tame is your iguana? Mine was very sweet when I first go him, but then after he shed the first time, he go all kinds of attitude. I just keep trying to work with him, to get him to calm down. I want him to be a free-roaming iguana when he gets to be an adult. I don't want him to have to be cooped up into a cage.

Hi,Alex is about 7 yrs. old. He is slightly over 5 foot. He was about 5 1/2 feet long, but he lost some of his tail due to an infection. He sleeps on top of a big cage and when he has to go potty gets down from the cage and goes to the front door. If the weather is warm,he will stay outside for about 3 hours or so. He will then come to the front door and make a little scratching noise with his claws letting me know that he wants in. If he knows I have food,he will come towards it and will sometimes eat out of my hand.I know that he responds to my voice, because his head and eyes will move. He's a pretty cool pet to have..

When they get older, do they move as fast as when they are little guys? How amazing you can let him outside and he doesn't run away. I hope I can train mine to do that. Mine will eat from my hand as well, but I have to hold him with the other hand to keep him near me. He's still skiddish. What's is Alex's favorite treat? Mine likes watermelon.

Alex feels a lot better now. He's a vegetarian. He is my pet and he is about 5 1/2 feet long! I wish I was able to put up a photo of him, but I can't. Oh, iguanas are giant lizards. I really don't know what their scientific names are.

hello, i am the proud owner of a 16 inch iguana named Gerold. he came to us from a family that was not paying him a lot of attention. he is not too friendly yet, but has learned that if he wips his tail at me i will not put him down. he has to be calm before he can go back in his cage. where do you live that you can let your outside? i am in ct. and even in the summer there are not a huge number of days when it is warm enough. do you worry about sombody or somethong hurting him while he is out? i'd imagine at 5 feet he is pretty impressive. have you ever been bitten by him? i am new to iguanas so please pass on you knowledge. thanks!!

Alex gets to go outside a lot because we live in Florida. He spent 8 hours outside yesterday basking in the sun. So far, no one has bothered him. He hasn't ever tried to bite me, but he has bitten my son once before. It was bad enough to where he had to go to the hospital for treatment. He's pretty layed back now! Good luck with your iguana.
