Are You A Trendsetter, Follower, Or Have Your Own Unique Style?

I have my own unique style, but if it just happens to be the end thing at the time, then great. I have a niece who likes things that are in style no matter what it looks like. If I tell her that it is ugly, she'll say, but it's in style and I just have to laugh. I have never had a mind to try and keep up. If I did, my clothes would have to have expiration dates, because I like to wear things until they are ready for the trash. I don't know how people keep up anyway. By the time I realize that it is the end thing, it's on its way out. How do you do it?

Gone are those days where I tried to keep up with the trends. When I was working I bought a lot of clothes just because they were the "in" thing at the time, now its just jeans, t-shirts, tops, shorts and whatever I can find on sale. As long as they match in color then I am ok. It's an expensive exercise and have you see what the trend are these days for the teenagers? boy i wouldn't get caught wearing half of what they wear nowadays LOL I like to cover up my body even on hot humid days LOL

I know aye! haha! I have a few friends that have kept up with the fashion and spend lots of dollars on the latest pair of low cut jeans, latest labelled top from who knows where. I think it's a total waste of money now and besides, you can find cheap immitations at decent stores for less than half of the price. I think becoming a mom changed all of this and what I found important to me those days i.e in fashion, is no longer relevant. As long as I am comfy and have a few decent clothes to wear, life is good!

I was smiling while reading your post. I was thinking to myself that when you were younger, you would never have thought that you would outgrow wanting the lastest fashions, LOL.

I have always had my own unique style. I have never tried to dress by the trends or fashion and if it is uncomfortable I won't wear it.

Speaking of uncomfortable clothes, I saw a lady my doctors office with a broken ankle on one side and a stiletto on the other foot. All I can say to that is, you can't fix stupid.

I've always had my unique style. I'm not a trendsetter nor a follower. I just wear what I feel like wearing at a particular time. Sometimes I even feel odd wearing clothes that are 'IN'. I just stick to classic pieces of clothing and just add my own style to an outfit. I can be trendy or dull, depending on my mood. :)

I also feel odd wearing the "In" thing sometime, because I feel like people assume that I am a certain way. Clothes say a lot about who we are and what we stand for. I want to be none as the person who gave myself permission to be different from everyone else.

I don't think i am a trendsetter or a follower. I do have my own style, I guess, but it isn't really out there or anything! :) When I go clothes shopping I just buy what I like! I don't get something because someone thinks I should or because I've seen others wear it. I mean, I do have people tell me all my clothes are really cute, but I don't know if that really makes me a trendsetter....I just dress as nicely as I can, dress to impress! lol

There were times when I have bought a pair of pants and my sister will go out and buy the same pair. We have the same taste in perfumes also. But I don't consider myself a trendsetter either.

I do my own thing if it is "in" or not. I deffiently am not a trend setter. I have done things around the house that have cought on with other mothers or friends. Short cuts are my best thing for trend setters. I have come up with short cuts at work that are still used today. My clothes are confortable and ususally washabout. I am not one to take clothes to the dry cleaners. I do have one suit at one of my husband's jackets at the dry cleaners as we speak. That was the first thing I have taken in years.

The style to end all styles. I don't like having to spend money on dry cleaning myself. It gets wat too expensive for me because I can only wear something once without washing it.

I have my own style. I don't follow trends and I certainly don't keep up with what Hollywood is wearing. I like to make my own clothes every now and then, or I add things to stuff I buy to 'make it my own'. There is nothing wrong with following trends, I just personally don't do that. Life is too short to try to look like everyone else. Plus...I don't have the money to be couture, even if I wanted to.:P

It is good to know that you realize that life is too short to be bothering with something as shallow as what everyone else is doing and wearing. Like the commercial use to say, "Dare To Be Different."

I know what you mean. When you have teenagers in the house they will give you a hard time about what you wear, if it is not like everyone else. Every generation goes through the same thing with styles and it is fun to watch, but I have never kept up.

Gee I think I would have to say I have no style. I probably do though right? Doesn't everybody have style whether they think so or not? My style is just plan boring I guess?

I believe that as long as your style works for you, that is all that is important. I just don't understand when the teenagers say that they want to be respected as an individual, but then they dress and act like everyone else.

Hey there. I also have and trust my own unique style, although there are lot of styles out there that I like, I tend to always go with my own unique way of matching this one to that one and so on...
