Do you embarrass your children?...Do they want to ignore you when you do

something weird, or what they think is weird? My daughter and I volunteered at our local animal shelter and we were cleaning and feeding the kittens and cats..well there was this one kitten I was calling pudgemuffin...it was so cute and I would say, "hey there pudgemuffin, how are you today?" My daughter is like. "Mother, that is enough." Of course I still continued to talk to the kitten...We were in there by ourselves, it isn't like the whole world was listening in...She is like, "stop it." I didn't think it was a big deal....Do you embarass your children?

my parents have sometimes embarrassed me in ways that are just stupid...they dont see the embarrassing side to what they are doing..for some reason. i dont ignore them..sometimes i have pretended to not know them..so i guess it could be ignoring.

I can understand that..sometimes I can get goofy and would totally understand if my kids did not want to be around me...I don't do anything that would make my kids feel stupid. Like say things to others that would be hurtful..I just have fun...I would never intentionally embarrass my children...

Hey feona.. You didn't say how old your daughter was.. I sometimes used to feel a little embarassed when my parents said something in front of family friends or such, but now, when i come to think about it, it's so silly to feel that way.. But then again, most adolescents feel that way at one point or another. My 13 year old sister is like that nowadays.. She can't bear it if me or my mother to act silly or say ANYTHING (that she finds uncool) in front of her friends. She'll roll her eyes and will ignore us. I guess ever since i've became a mother, she finds her cool big sister has crossed over to be an uncool parent. :)

:) I don't do it intentionally either.. i just think that most adolescents are just too self-conscious nowadays.. My mom complains that we can't even be ourselves among teenagers nowadays.. lol!
